Ah, jaaaaaa?
Was ist hier los?
So z.B.

Standing on the shoulder of giants

If you read through all the nonsense of the alleged art market, Banksy and Shepard Fairey were pioneers of graffiti and street art, similar to today’s kids‘ idea that Tupac Shakur, for example, was an old-school rap/hip-hop representative.
What’s going on here? Where are the corrections? Can you just say shit these days and it manifests through that? Of course, the above claims are absolute brain teasers and if we, as those in the know, allow this, we shouldn’t be surprised if other obscure figures simply position themselves in front of them. You can call that „taking the butter off the bread“.
In my opinion, the media have the task of documenting chronologically correct processes and ensuring that the inventors have their place in the chronological process. That somehow seems to have been completely lost in the last 10 years.
Dubious so-called „entrepreneurs“ seem to be spreading and presenting their supposed art collections to the ignorant population as values (see above) and the institutions such as museums and public collections that we all support from cultural funds are still playing along with this kindergarten and are still exhibiting this rubbish. Banksy and Shepard Fairey, for example, have nothing to do with pioneers but only with media hype. Actors from local surroundings are also often positioned as icons of institutions and their media attachments, from which a real enrichment of this art movement has never emanated, let alone their own style could have been recognized …
No more: The real pioneers of modern graffiti and street art are completely different. For example Cornbread, Taki 183, Blek le rat and an incredible number of others, to report on the real origins from my level of knowledge and I wouldn’t presume to say that this information is really correct. Because I wasn’t even born at that time or was still a child.
All of us graffiti and street artists today stand on the shoulders of giants. In any case, Banksy and Shepard Fairey aren’t there. It’s media hype and connection because many of us have a completely different understanding of what art is. Nevertheless, the hype is good for the topic of graffiti, even if the positioned role models should clearly set the pedagogically implemented course: Clear statements with clearly communicable content that should be immediately understandable by everyone. And this is all about one thing: usability.
