Fontdesign & Graffitiart

Beautiful typefaces are rare and, deservedly, not exactly cheap. In 2006, I was one of the first to license the wonderful fonts from my graffiti art buddies Underware in the Netherlands and Finland. Initially, I licensed Bello for Sony Interactive Entertainment and Sony PlayStation, which I then used for my graffiti art collaboration named ABSOLUTE GRAFFITI with Fedor „CANTWO“ Wildhardt and ATOM One. Bernhard-M. Schmidt and several others also contributed to the collaboration.

In 2007, I used the Sauna font for body text and Bello as the logo font and visual identity for the corporate identity and promotional materials (posters, flyers, etc.) for the Roots of Hip Hop exhibition in the then-new library in Frankfurt.

The relationship between graffiti art, graphics, typography, fontdesign, stylewriting and design is not readily apparent to many ordinary people, yet these fields are closely related. An initial exploration of this topic was presented in Form Magazine 253 from June 2014.

Schriftgestaltung & Graffitikunst

Schöne Schriften sind selten und zu Recht nicht ganz günstig. 2006 lizensierte ich als einer der ersten die herrlichen Fonts meiner Graffiti Art Buddies Underware aus den Niederlanden und Finnland, zuerst die Bello für Sony Interactive Entertainment bzw. Sony PlayStation die dich dann auch für meine Graffiti Art Kooperation namens ABSOLUTE GRAFFITI mit Fedor „CANTWO“ Wildhardt und ATOM One einsetzte. Bei der Kooperative halfen auch Bernhard-M. Schmidt und einige andere mit.

2007 nutzte ich dann den Font Sauna als Satzschrift und verwendete die Bello als Logofont bzw. Visual für die CI und die Werbemittel Plakat, Flyer etc. für die Roots of Hip Hop Ausstellung in der Neuen Bibliothek in Frankfurt.

Die Beziehung von Graffiti Art, Stylewriting, Grafik, Schrift, Fontdesign und Design ist für viele Normalbürger nicht nachvollziehbar, dabei sind diese Bereiche eng miteinander verwandt. Eine erste Beleuchtung dazu gab es im Form Magazin 253 aus dem Juni 2014.
