As part of the opening ceremony of the BMW branch in Frankfurt, or more precisely, the BMW Center in Dreieich, I painted a BMW 635 CSi as an Art Car live on March 20, 1993. The car had been perfectly masked and primed by the apprentices there. Using my then-current brands of spray paint, Eisodur and Sparvar, as well as Multona (Auto K.), I sprayed the Art Car live in front of an audience within just a few hours.

Tyron Ricketts, who is now better known as a famous actor, rapped about it at the time.

Beim Aufräumen und Sortieren fand ich wieder einige gute Werke aus meiner wilden Produktion, hier ein Graffiti-Stylewriting mit einem Portrait des Rappers Guru von Gang Starr (R.I.P.) das ich 17.08.1992 nachts sprühte inkl. Vorstreiche-was ne Arbeit … Durfte Guru damals live im Palais Osthafen mit DJ Premier erleben. Danke an Klaus Schaeffer und Hanne Reichel.

Wie so viele Arbeiten wurden diese einfach durch die Stadtwerke Frankfurt oder andere Institutionen zerstört, da wilde Werke offiziell keinen (kulturellen schonmal eh nicht) Wert haben dürfen.

Und: ein Mane-Grey Graffiti Art-Stylewriting mit Character, daß seit 1992 unberührt am Südbahnhof in Sachsenhausen glänzt.

Nun aber zu den genehmigten Teil, weil beauftragt und honoriert (ja honorare-ehrenhalber gegen Austausch von Ziffern und Symboliken auf Papier oder Digital.)

Diesen Spätsommer/Herbst durfte ich bisher lustigste Murals und Fassaden (offiziell-auch wenn die netten Damen und Herren in Blau in Bornheim dazu kamen) gestalten und einen Zieharmonikabus des Antagon-Aktionstheaters. Über eine Sockel-Fassadengestaltung in Bornheim zum Thema Eintracht Frankfurt/SGE (Glückwunsch zum gestrigen Sieg von 5:1 über Galatasaray), eine Sporthallenfassade mit Grundschulkids im Rahmen der Projektwoche in Nied an der Niddaschule und eine Fassade für den FC Marxheim, eine Indoor Fläche in der Dorea-Familie in Flörsheim. Ein SGE-Eintracht Frankfurt-Fan Graffiti auf einem Garagentor in Eddersheim und eine Indoor Gestaltung auf Säulen in Mainz für Rogge.

Weiterhin sprühte ich das Wappen des FCO Fechtclub Offenbach auf dessen Fassade in der Senefelder Str. 265 inkl. einer Fechterin als Wegweiser bzw. Leitsystem zum Eingang des Olympiastützpunktes. 

Dann sprühte ich eine freies typisches BOMBER Stylewriting am Blauen Wasser, einer hippen Offspace Location in Frankfurts Osten und hatte Spaß mit dem frischgebackenen GBF Member Dejoe aus Berlin auf dem letzten krassesten Schrotti-Jam in Babenhausen einige Flächen zu gestalten. Unter anderem sprühte ich eine moderne Interpretation des Wilhelm Busch Klassikers Lehrer Lämpel.

Ansteht gerade folgendes: Indoor-Flächen in Oberrad im Rahmen des Socialday der Malteser, eine Trafohaus-Gestaltung für die Mainova, eine Fassade am Domplatz in Frankfurt, Indoor Flächen für das Gym des MTV Kronberg. Ein Teamevent für einen Fund in Glashütten und eine Urban Art Airbrushing Session in Wiesbaden für das Zukunftswerk.

Und einen neuen Azubi habe ich auch. Thiemo unterstützt mich in allen Belangen. Welcome.

While cleaning up and sorting, I found some good pieces from my wild production. Here’s a graffiti style piece with a portrait of rapper Guru from Gang Starr (R.I.P.) that I sprayed on August 17, 1992, at night, including a primer—what a job! I was lucky enough to see Guru live at the Palais Osthafen with DJ Premier. Thanks to Klaus Schaeffer and Hanne Reichel.

Like so many other artworks, these were simply destroyed by the Frankfurt public utility company or other institutions, since uncontrolled artworks are officially not allowed to have any value (and certainly not cultural value).

And: a Mane-Grey graffiti art style with character that has been shining untouched at the Südbahnhof (South Station) in Sachsenhausen since 1992.

But now to the approved part, because it was commissioned and paid (yes, honorary fees in exchange for numbers and symbols on paper or digitally).

This late summer/autumn, I was able to design the funniest murals and facades to date (officially, even though the nice ladies and gentlemen in blue in Bornheim joined in), as well as an accordion bus for the Antagon Action Theater. A base façade design in Bornheim featuring Eintracht Frankfurt/SGE (congratulations on yesterday’s 5-1 victory over Galatasaray), a sports hall façade with elementary school children as part of the project week in Nied at the Niddaschule, and a façade for FC Marxheim, an indoor area at the Dorea-Family in Flörsheim. An SGE Eintracht Frankfurt fan graffiti on a garage door in Eddersheim, and an indoor design on pillars in Mainz for Rogge.

I also sprayed the crest of the FCO Fencing Club Offenbach on its façade at Senefelder Str. 265, including a female fencer as a signpost or guidance system to the entrance of the Olympic Training Center.

Then I sprayed some free, typical BOMBER style writing at Blaues Wasser, a hip off-space location in eastern Frankfurt, and had fun designing some surfaces with newly minted GBF member Dejoe from Berlin at the last awesome scrap metal jam in Babenhausen. Among other things, I sprayed a modern interpretation of the Wilhelm Busch classic „Teacher Lämpel.“

Currently, I’m working on the following: indoor surfaces in Oberrad as part of the Malteser Social Day, a transformer house design for Mainova, a facade at Domplatz in Frankfurt, indoor surfaces for the MTV Kronberg gym, a team event for a find in Glashütten, and an urban art airbrushing session in Wiesbaden for Zukunftswerk.

And I also have a new trainee. Thiemo supports me in all matters. Welcome.

Heutzutage nehme ich vermehrt Shirts mit Graffiti-Tags kombiniert mit Sauriern und popkulturellem Artwork (Stitch etc.) bei den Kids wahr.

 

Über alles berichtete damals die DPA-Deutsche Presse Agentur, die jetzt, wie ich mitbekam, via Bots das Netz nach deren Fotos durchsuchen lässt um Nutzungsrechte teils horrent einzufordern. Eine Praxis, die ich einerseits verstehe, andererseits habe ich als eigentlicher Urheber des Artworks nichts davon, sondern nur der Fotograf. Daher veröffentliche ich die DPA-Fotos hier nicht, sondern nur die von mir gemachten.

 

 

In 2010, I was commissioned by Urban Vision Concept to spray two areas of the Expo’s main tent at Güterplatz, Mainzer Landstraße 124 in Frankfurt am Main, for the Senckenberg Museum’s Gigasaur exhibition – The Giants of Argentina. I created the 4 x 10 m main area with dinosaur motifs with the help of Antonio Basilico/Pixeljuice.

In the meantime, the son of the then museum director, Bernd Herkner, joined the team: Carl actively helped behind the scenes.

I created the smaller area, 2 x 6 m, in the main hall of my then-studio at the so-called Phrix KG artist community in Okriftel.

I also sprayed a kinetic, moving Tyrannosaurus Rex model (build by Kai Wolf) that advertised this very unusual exhibition event at Frankfurt Central Station.

Finally, I held a graffiti art workshop on large banners on July 28, 2010, on-site with kids who enthusiastically enjoyed drawing sketches and sketches afterward.

Speaking of the Senckenberg Museum: I gave a graffiti workshop for school classes on containers there in 2013, and as part of Luminale 2014, Lichtfaktor crew, along with Marcel Panne and Alice Rose from Denmark and Cemnoz, created light art installations in the Dinosaur Hall. Thanks again to Satis & Fy for their support.

These days, I’m noticing more and more kids are wearing shirts with graffiti tags combined with dinosaurs and pop culture artwork (Stitch, etc.).

The DPA-German Press Agency reported on everything at the time. Now, as I understand, they’re using bots to search the internet for their photos, sometimes demanding exorbitant usage rights. A practice I understand on the one hand, but on the other hand, as the creator of the artwork, I don’t get anything from it; only the photographer does. Therefore, I’m not publishing the DPA photos here, but only the ones I took.

Hier ein Beispiel einer Arbeit aus dem Jahr 2016 auf Maschinenoberflächen eine Maschine von Averex für Kadigo. Was als Street Art Airbrushing Event zur Einweihung des neuen Standortes in Idstein 2015 startete (Danke an Evendon / Beate Hüls) , bekam ebenfalls eine fette Wandgestaltung in Form eines freihand gesprühten Tyrannosaurus Rex, ca. 7 m hoch und ca 8 m breit, ebenfalls mit Dose durch mich erstellt.

Schon 1995 initierte ich mit meiner damaligen Agentur OXYGEN das Geschäftsfeld ernstzunehmender Gestaltung mit der Farbsprühdose und wir beauftragten Sigi von Koeding /DARE für einen unserer Kunden eine Trafohausoberfläche zu gestalten. Damals klassisches Stylewriting, lässt sich mit der Dose auf nahezu allen Oberflächen gestalterisch arbeiten. Heutzutage auch im Boesner zu finden, war das bis Anfang der 2000er kaum vorstellbar, daß die meisten Menschen sich vorstellen konnten daß damit sinnvolles Artwork erstellt werden kann. Wie man sich täuschen kann …

The spray paint can: I’ve been using it since the late 1980s, and it was clear that it was a very special innovation that had since completely transformed not only culture but also the perception of the urban environment. This tool serves artistic (free), advertising (applied), and even quasi-religious purposes (football fans), and began its career as a misuse. Here is an example of a work from 2016 on machine surfaces of Averex by Kadigo.

What started as a street art airbrushing event for the inauguration of the new location in Idstein in 2015 (thanx to Evendon / Beate Hüls) also got a bold wall design in the form of a freehand sprayed Tyrannosaurus Rex, about 7 m high and about 8 m wide, also created by me with a can.

Back in 1995, I and my then agency, OXYGEN, initiated the business of serious design with spray paint cans, and we commissioned Sigi von Koeding / DARE to design a transformer housing surface for one of our clients. Back then, classic style writing, the can can be used for design work on almost any surface. Today, it can also be found in Boesner stores, but until the early 2000s, it was hard to imagine that most people could imagine that it could be used to create meaningful artwork. A nice little urban art session event will take place on the first day of the holidays, specifically on Monday, April 7, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Then, with or without my help, you can redesign or redesign two chalkboard-painted wall surfaces in the YELED KORN’ER cafe at Eschenheimer Anlage 23a in 60318 Frankfurt using chalk markers and/or chalk spray. Marketendering bzw. Märkte sind aber nichts anderes als uralte psychologische Tricks Menschen überzeugen zu wollen Produkte an sich zu nehmen, die sie vielleicht irgendwann mal benutzen könnten um sich und ihr Selbstbild aufzuwerten oder einen anderen praktischen Nutzen zu erfüllen (Selbsterhalt durch Lebensmittel etc.)

Und Hip Hop ist erst nicht seit letzter Woche ein Dauerbrenner wenn es um kulturelle Identität und dem damit verbundenen Abverkauf von Produkten geht. Graffiti als Teil des Kulturmixes ist da besonders interessant, da die Protestnote alles noch glaubwürdiger macht.

Es war 1999, kurz nach dem mein Papa starb,daß ich Jury eines Designwettbewerbes für Levi`s Jeans Deutschland in Heusenstamm war. Kurz darauf wurde ich als damals schon aktiver Urban Hip Hop Artist gefragt eine Jeansjacke und Jeans der Vintage Serie mit Graffiti Art zu gestalten. Die Ansage, daß niemand anderes als mein Jugendhero Graffitlegende Futura 2000 (Leonard McGurr) – den ich beim zweiten Spring Jam 1994 dabei hatte – der andere zweite angefragte Graffiti Stylewriting Artist war machte mich jubeln und mich besonders engagiert die Teile besonders schön und eigen zu gestalten.

Tatsächlich grundierte ich die schon damals sündteure Hose und Jacke aus Denim um sie dann wirklich mit Farbsprühdosen zu gestalten. Weil ich noch kein eigenes Atelier hatte, vollzog ich das damals in einem leerstehenden Haus des Immobilienbesitzers Novak Petrovic aus Frankfurt für den ich dort zeitgleich freihand 12 Gebäude aus seinem Besitz auf Keilrahmen Leinwand 80 x 100 cm sprühte.

Was dann aus der Serie wurde und über den Verbleib der Teile verliert sich leider die Kommunikation mit Levi’s. Schade eigentlich …

Funny … so-called corporations always need an image or a culture that they graft onto, otherwise they can only sell products that are devoid of content at best. But we humans don’t buy products, we actually only buy stories and history, at best human culture. And who knows this better than so-called marketing people?

But marketing or markets are nothing more than ancient psychological tricks to convince people to take products that they could perhaps use at some point to improve themselves and their self-image or to fulfill another practical benefit (self-preservation through food, etc.)

And hip hop has only been a long-running favorite since last week when it comes to cultural identity and the associated sales of products. Graffiti as part of the cultural mix is ​​particularly interesting because the note of protest makes everything even more credible.

It was in 1999, shortly after my daddy died, that I was a jury member in a design competition for Levi’s Jeans Germany in Heusenstamm. Shortly afterwards, as an already active urban hip hop artist, I was asked to design a denim jacket and jeans from the Vintage series with graffiti art. The announcement that the other second requested graffiti stylewriting artist was none other than my youth hero, graffiti legend Futura 2000 (Leonard McGurr) – who I had with me at the second Spring Jam in 1994 – made me cheer and particularly committed to making the pieces particularly beautiful and unique .

In fact, I primed the denim pants and jacket, which were already extremely expensive, and then really decorated them with spray paint cans. Because I didn’t yet have my own studio, I did this in an empty house belonging to the property owner Novak Petrovic from Frankfurt, for whom I simultaneously sprayed 12 buildings from his property onto 80 x 100 cm stretcher canvas.

On behalf of Messe Frankfurt, together with Fedor „CANTWO“ Wildhardt, I tagged personalized names, so-called tags, on paper for trade fair visitors for Paperworld (the forerunner fair of Creativeworld) as part of our Absolute Graffiti 2007 cooperation. I called this innovation Graffitiyourname. In 2009 we also designed all of the attraction stands with spray paint cans, which were already all equipped with mirrors in 2007 to give trade fair visitors a better view of the work of us stand artists. In 2007 we sat in close proximity to design legend Luigi Colani and at the same time Mode 2 was designing an area in the exhibition hall on behalf of Kram/Weisshaar. In fact, we were the first street or urban artists to serve as teasers for upcoming DIY shows. Everyone followed… Posca, Montana, Molotow, MTN, Loop, Clash to name just a few…

REMIX ALMANYA

Das Buch erzählt die Geschichte des deutschen HipHop aus einer neuen Perspektive. Die Autoren Murat Güngör und Hannes Loh verabschieden sich vom Begriff »Deutschrap« und zeigen, wie HipHop als postmigrantisches Phänomen die deutsche Gesellschaft geprägt und verändert hat.

Als Hip Hop Urgestein kenne ich Murat und Hannes schon sehr lange.

Witzigerweise wurde Murat vor einem legendären Artwork von mir von 1999 am JUZ Heideplatz in Bornheim (veröffentlich von mir unter https://www.bomber-graffiti.com/blog/und-sonst) gefilmt und auch ein Foto der Arbeit ist auf der Schirn-Website darüber zu finden. Das Artwork wurde damals von PINO initiiert und außer mir waren noch CANTWO, ZORIN und KENT an der Farbsprühdose: https://www.schirn.de/magazin/069/wir_schauen_darauf_wie_migration_das_land_veraendert_hat

Zu meinem Erstaunen hat sich in nahezu 40 Jahren fast nichts geändert, was das Urheberrecht und dessen Nutzung angeht. Fotocredits werden genannt. Die Artists die das Artwork im öffentlichen Raum gestalteten werden mit keinem Wort erwähnt.

Genau darum eben, um die Bildrechte, auch von wilden Arbeiten im privaten und öffentlichen Raum zu schützen hatte ich mit Omid Nouripour, Saul Len, Marlon Mathis, Hendoc und vielen Graffiti Artists/Stylewriting Artists 2004 den Einwandfrei e.V.- Verein für Kunst im öffentlichen Raum gegründet, dem das Finanzamt Hofheim 2005 sofort die Gemeinnützigkeit entzog. Eine Sachbearbeiterin hatte Zeit, 20 Din-A4 Seiten Begründung zu schreiben, warum Graffiti angeblich keine Kunst sei und deswegen auch nicht gemeinnützig wäre … unfassbar.

Ein Großteil meiner Buddies mit denen ich überall hier aufwuchs sind Türken, Araber, Moslems, Juden, Italiener, Marokkaner, Kurden, Iraner/Perser, Yugos (ja so nennen wir die – klar Serben, Kroaten und Montenegro) und natürlich auch Biodeutsche (wobei ich dieses Wort verabscheue, da es diskredierend benutzt wird und letztendlich jeder Mensch oder dessen Vorfahren irgendwoher einwanderten). Letztendlich gehts hierbei ja um eine Definition, wie man eine Zugehörigkeit beschreibt, also um einen Verwaltungsakt. Was ist also »deutsch«?

Für mich persönlich gilt: es eint uns alle nur der Sprachraum und der Wille zur Kommunikation und zum Verständnis. Ich muss nicht jeden Kulturkreis zu 100% akzeptieren und dieser sich zu 100% assimilieren, sondern das andere als anders zu akzeptieren, darum gehts mir. Das Fremde als fremdartig aber nicht unbedingt als feindlich zu betrachten ist mein Ziel. Genau darum hatte ich meinem Artwork inkl. Character (Figur) von 1999 den schönen Satz beinhalten lassen »Brothas from different Mothas … (Brother from different Mothers …«. Denn das sind wir irgendwie doch alle, oder nicht? Das damit alle Menschen, auch die Sisters gemeint sind, sollte jedem klar sein.

Und das HipHop schon länger ein fester Kulturbestandteil geworden ist, sollte mittlerweile auch dem Finanzamt Hofheim und dessen Mitarbeitenden klar geworden sein.
