Hermann Vaske zeigt aktuell die Austellung »Why are you creative ?« im Kunsthaus Wiesbaden bei dem er Aussagen und Positionen von Prominenten dazu sammelte, die er weltweit befragte.

For Hermann Vaske’s 2013 film Arteholic, I spray-painted with spraycans two portraits of actor Udo Kier (who has just passed away) freehand and without any tools. Kier cut one of them up in the film; he kept the other for himself.

Hermann Vaske is currently presenting the exhibition „Why are you creative?“ at the Kunsthaus Wiesbaden, for which he collected statements and perspectives on the topic from celebrities he interviewed worldwide.

Damals rappte Tyron Ricketts dazu, der heute eher als bekannter Schauspieler wahrgenommen wird.

As part of the opening ceremony of the BMW branch in Frankfurt, or more precisely, the BMW Center in Dreieich, I painted a BMW 635 CSi as an Art Car live on March 20, 1993. The car had been perfectly masked and primed by the apprentices there. Using my then-current brands of spray paint, Eisodur and Sparvar, as well as Multona (Auto K.), I sprayed the Art Car live in front of an audience within just a few hours.

Tyron Ricketts, who is now better known as a famous actor, rapped about it at the time.

Im Rahmen der von mir aufgebauten Agentur Oxgygen-the Art Agency, damals durch die Medien Mitte der 90er als weltweit erste Agentur für Street Art, Graffiti Art und Urbane Künste tituliert, sprühte ich in der Halle des Exzess auf der Leipziger Straße 91 in Bockenheim 1996 eine Leinwandfläche für den so genannten Eta-Marathon, den heutigen Frankfurt Marathon. Zum Zieleinlauf der Laufenden stand die Groß-Leinwand aus 12 gerahmten Einzelkeilrahmen auf der Bühne der Festhalle in Frankfurt. Die Werke wurden dann meistbietend versteigert.

Wer etwas über den Verbleib der zwölf Werke 200 x 200 cm weiß, darf sich gerne bei mir melden.

Those who do a lot have a lot to say … supposedly the most valuable thing of all these days, known in modern German as „content.“

As part of the agency I built, Oxgygen-the Art Agency, which was dubbed the world’s first agency for street art, graffiti art, and urban art in the mid-90s by the media, I spray-painted a canvas in the Hall of Excess at Leipziger Straße 91 in Bockenheim in 1996 for the so-called Eta Marathon, today’s Frankfurt Marathon. As the runners crossed the finish line, the large canvas, made of 12 framed individual stretcher frames, stood on the stage of the Festhalle in Frankfurt. The works were then auctioned off to the highest bidder.

Sprühsport 2025: Ich gebe schon seit 1990 Graffiti-Art und Urban Art Workshops (daher darf ich mit Fug und Recht behaupten einer der ersten zu sein, die das Geschäftsfelt begründeten), für Unternehmen, aber auch privat auch an Institutionen, eben auch an Schulen (der erste Workshop war an einem Gymnasium), aber das war auch für mich neu: Im Rahmen der Projektwoche der Niddaschule in Frankfurt-Nied bespielten die Lehr- und Hilfskräfte über 100 Grundschul-Kids (von 8-11 Jahren), die mehrere Flächen an der Sporthallen-Fassade unter meiner Leitung besprühten.
Das Projekt hieß »Sport trifft Graffiti« und war eine Kombi aus Austoben und Druck ablassen und lief trotz widriger Umstände wie Regen und Wind vom 02.-06. Juni 2025. Die Kids hatten Riesenspaß und es gab natürlich mehr Anmeldungen als wir bedienen konnten und die meisten wollten nicht einfach mehr aufhören zu sprühen. In den Pausen besprühte ich deren Kleidung mit Tags und Sprüchen.

Traurig zu sehen ist in dem Zusammenhang, daß es in Deutschland vor seltsamen Vögeln nur so wimmelt, die einer unwissenden Bevölkerung und den Bildungsbeauftragten (und derer, die sich dazu berufen fühlen) eine authentische Historie online vorgaukeln, nur um sich Kapital, Fame und Möglichkeiten zu erhaschen. Man googele nur nach Graffiti und Schule. Unfassbar. Ich will gar nicht auf die große Menge Fallbeispiele eingehen derer, die keinerlei echte Bewandniss ins unserer Stylewriting-Graffiti-Art-Kultur spielen und den Kids jetzt einen vom Pferd erzählen. Diejenigen von denen ich hier spreche, wissen schon wen ich meine …

Wo waren diese Leute, als wir diesen Bereich wild erschufen und prägten?

Aber wie sage ich immer? Fuck the fame, if it doesn’t change the game …

Spray Sports 2025: I’ve been giving graffiti and urban art workshops since 1990 (therefore I can rightly claim to be one of the first to establish this business area), both for companies and privately for institutions, including schools (my first workshop was at a high school), but this was new to me, too: As part of the Niddaschule project week in Frankfurt-Nied, teachers and support staff entertained over 100 elementary school children (from 8-11 years), who sprayed several surfaces on the gymnasium facade under my supervision.

The project was called »Sports meets Graffiti« and was a combination of letting off steam and releasing pressure. It ran from June 2nd to 6th, 2025, despite adverse conditions such as rain and wind.The kids had a blast, and of course, there were more sign-ups than we could handle, and most of them didn’t want to stop spraying. During breaks, I sprayed their clothes with tags, words and symbols.

In this context, it’s sad to see that Germany is teeming with strange characters who swindle an ignorant population and education officials (and those who feel called to do so) into believing an authentic history online, just to grab capital, fame, and opportunities. Just google graffiti and schools. Unbelievable. I don’t even want to go into the multitude of case studies of those who have no real connection to our stylewriting graffiti art culture and are now telling the kids a load of rubbish. They already know who I mean…

Where were these people when we wildly created and shaped this space?

But as I always say: Fuck the fame, if it doesn’t change the game…

Beim Aufräumen und Sortieren fand ich wieder einige gute Werke aus meiner wilden Produktion, hier ein Graffiti-Stylewriting mit einem Portrait des Rappers Guru von Gang Starr (R.I.P.) das ich 17.08.1992 nachts sprühte inkl. Vorstreiche-was ne Arbeit … Durfte Guru damals live im Palais Osthafen mit DJ Premier erleben. Danke an Klaus Schaeffer und Hanne Reichel.

Wie so viele Arbeiten wurden diese einfach durch die Stadtwerke Frankfurt oder andere Institutionen zerstört, da wilde Werke offiziell keinen (kulturellen schonmal eh nicht) Wert haben dürfen.

Und: ein Mane-Grey Graffiti Art-Stylewriting mit Character, daß seit 1992 unberührt am Südbahnhof in Sachsenhausen glänzt.

Nun aber zu den genehmigten Teil, weil beauftragt und honoriert (ja honorare-ehrenhalber gegen Austausch von Ziffern und Symboliken auf Papier oder Digital.)

Diesen Spätsommer/Herbst durfte ich bisher lustigste Murals und Fassaden (offiziell-auch wenn die netten Damen und Herren in Blau in Bornheim dazu kamen) gestalten und einen Zieharmonikabus des Antagon-Aktionstheaters. Über eine Sockel-Fassadengestaltung in Bornheim zum Thema Eintracht Frankfurt/SGE (Glückwunsch zum gestrigen Sieg von 5:1 über Galatasaray), eine Sporthallenfassade mit Grundschulkids im Rahmen der Projektwoche in Nied an der Niddaschule und eine Fassade für den FC Marxheim, eine Indoor Fläche in der Dorea-Familie in Flörsheim. Ein SGE-Eintracht Frankfurt-Fan Graffiti auf einem Garagentor in Eddersheim und eine Indoor Gestaltung auf Säulen in Mainz für Rogge.

Weiterhin sprühte ich das Wappen des FCO Fechtclub Offenbach auf dessen Fassade in der Senefelder Str. 265 inkl. einer Fechterin als Wegweiser bzw. Leitsystem zum Eingang des Olympiastützpunktes. 

Dann sprühte ich eine freies typisches BOMBER Stylewriting am Blauen Wasser, einer hippen Offspace Location in Frankfurts Osten und hatte Spaß mit dem frischgebackenen GBF Member Dejoe aus Berlin auf dem letzten krassesten Schrotti-Jam in Babenhausen einige Flächen zu gestalten. Unter anderem sprühte ich eine moderne Interpretation des Wilhelm Busch Klassikers Lehrer Lämpel.

Ansteht gerade folgendes: Indoor-Flächen in Oberrad im Rahmen des Socialday der Malteser, eine Trafohaus-Gestaltung für die Mainova, eine Fassade am Domplatz in Frankfurt, Indoor Flächen für das Gym des MTV Kronberg. Ein Teamevent für einen Fund in Glashütten und eine Urban Art Airbrushing Session in Wiesbaden für das Zukunftswerk.

Und einen neuen Azubi habe ich auch. Thiemo unterstützt mich in allen Belangen. Welcome.

While cleaning up and sorting, I found some good pieces from my wild production. Here’s a graffiti style piece with a portrait of rapper Guru from Gang Starr (R.I.P.) that I sprayed on August 17, 1992, at night, including a primer—what a job! I was lucky enough to see Guru live at the Palais Osthafen with DJ Premier. Thanks to Klaus Schaeffer and Hanne Reichel.

Like so many other artworks, these were simply destroyed by the Frankfurt public utility company or other institutions, since uncontrolled artworks are officially not allowed to have any value (and certainly not cultural value).

And: a Mane-Grey graffiti art style with character that has been shining untouched at the Südbahnhof (South Station) in Sachsenhausen since 1992.

But now to the approved part, because it was commissioned and paid (yes, honorary fees in exchange for numbers and symbols on paper or digitally).

This late summer/autumn, I was able to design the funniest murals and facades to date (officially, even though the nice ladies and gentlemen in blue in Bornheim joined in), as well as an accordion bus for the Antagon Action Theater. A base façade design in Bornheim featuring Eintracht Frankfurt/SGE (congratulations on yesterday’s 5-1 victory over Galatasaray), a sports hall façade with elementary school children as part of the project week in Nied at the Niddaschule, and a façade for FC Marxheim, an indoor area at the Dorea-Family in Flörsheim. An SGE Eintracht Frankfurt fan graffiti on a garage door in Eddersheim, and an indoor design on pillars in Mainz for Rogge.

I also sprayed the crest of the FCO Fencing Club Offenbach on its façade at Senefelder Str. 265, including a female fencer as a signpost or guidance system to the entrance of the Olympic Training Center.

Then I sprayed some free, typical BOMBER style writing at Blaues Wasser, a hip off-space location in eastern Frankfurt, and had fun designing some surfaces with newly minted GBF member Dejoe from Berlin at the last awesome scrap metal jam in Babenhausen. Among other things, I sprayed a modern interpretation of the Wilhelm Busch classic „Teacher Lämpel.“

Currently, I’m working on the following: indoor surfaces in Oberrad as part of the Malteser Social Day, a transformer house design for Mainova, a facade at Domplatz in Frankfurt, indoor surfaces for the MTV Kronberg gym, a team event for a find in Glashütten, and an urban art airbrushing session in Wiesbaden for Zukunftswerk.

And I also have a new trainee. Thiemo supports me in all matters. Welcome.

Mein alter GBF-crewbuddy Pino Caruso ludt ein nach dem Brand des Blauen Wassers die Fassade zu gestalten und viele Street Artists (ich inklusive) kamen.

Zur Roof on fire Street Art Gallery am Sonntag, 14.09.2025 ab 12:00 bis 22:00 Uhr sind alle beteiligten Artists und deren Umkreis vor Ort in der Franziusstraße 35.

Das Wetter soll bombe werden, der Pool ist offen (also Badehose mitbringen) und Fernsehkoch Christopher Crell kredenzt Food (angeblich modifizierte Best worscht in town) … Mucke gibts ja eh. Welcome! You’re invited!

Heutzutage nehme ich vermehrt Shirts mit Graffiti-Tags kombiniert mit Sauriern und popkulturellem Artwork (Stitch etc.) bei den Kids wahr.

 

Über alles berichtete damals die DPA-Deutsche Presse Agentur, die jetzt, wie ich mitbekam, via Bots das Netz nach deren Fotos durchsuchen lässt um Nutzungsrechte teils horrent einzufordern. Eine Praxis, die ich einerseits verstehe, andererseits habe ich als eigentlicher Urheber des Artworks nichts davon, sondern nur der Fotograf. Daher veröffentliche ich die DPA-Fotos hier nicht, sondern nur die von mir gemachten.

 

 

In 2010, I was commissioned by Urban Vision Concept to spray two areas of the Expo’s main tent at Güterplatz, Mainzer Landstraße 124 in Frankfurt am Main, for the Senckenberg Museum’s Gigasaur exhibition – The Giants of Argentina. I created the 4 x 10 m main area with dinosaur motifs with the help of Antonio Basilico/Pixeljuice.

In the meantime, the son of the then museum director, Bernd Herkner, joined the team: Carl actively helped behind the scenes.

I created the smaller area, 2 x 6 m, in the main hall of my then-studio at the so-called Phrix KG artist community in Okriftel.

I also sprayed a kinetic, moving Tyrannosaurus Rex model (build by Kai Wolf) that advertised this very unusual exhibition event at Frankfurt Central Station.

Finally, I held a graffiti art workshop on large banners on July 28, 2010, on-site with kids who enthusiastically enjoyed drawing sketches and sketches afterward.

Speaking of the Senckenberg Museum: I gave a graffiti workshop for school classes on containers there in 2013, and as part of Luminale 2014, Lichtfaktor crew, along with Marcel Panne and Alice Rose from Denmark and Cemnoz, created light art installations in the Dinosaur Hall. Thanks again to Satis & Fy for their support.

These days, I’m noticing more and more kids are wearing shirts with graffiti tags combined with dinosaurs and pop culture artwork (Stitch, etc.).

The DPA-German Press Agency reported on everything at the time. Now, as I understand, they’re using bots to search the internet for their photos, sometimes demanding exorbitant usage rights. A practice I understand on the one hand, but on the other hand, as the creator of the artwork, I don’t get anything from it; only the photographer does. Therefore, I’m not publishing the DPA photos here, but only the ones I took.

Hier ein Beispiel von der ISW – Internationale Schule Westpfalz die in einem ehemsligen Kloster im pfälzischen Landstuhl untergebracht ist, die auch eine liebevolle Kunst-Ausstellung auf die Beine stellten. Eine Woche später gabs noch einen Tag der offenen Tür für alle Eltern und Angehörigen. Das Motto der Schule kann nur als herrlich offen angenehm beschrieben werden »Dare To Do What You Dream« trifft auch genau mein Herz und die Schulräume sind offen und luftig. Eine superangenehme Atmosphäre, die ich als sehr herzlich und fürsorglich im Sinne der Kids empfand. War sehr sweet.

After over 60 years of style writing graffiti, which has existed for this topic, more and more elementary schools are requesting graffiti art workshops from me this year… The kids are completely into it and for the most part, they don’t want to stop creating with spray paint and spraying surfaces. In my opinion, that’s an astonishing statement when you look at the curricula and usual teaching materials of regular schools.

Here’s an example from the ISW – Internationale Schule Westpfalz, housed in a former monastery in Landstuhl, Palatinate, which also put on a lovely art exhibition. A week later, there was an open day for all parents and relatives.

The school’s motto can only be described as wonderfully open and pleasant. „Dare To Do What You Dream“ really resonates with my heart, and the classrooms are open and airy. A super-comfortable atmosphere that I found very warm and caring for the children. It was very sweet.

Graffiti Artwork BOMBER.de @ Goethe-Universität Frankfurt Campus Bockenheim Modular Supercomputing & Quantum Computing

Die MSQC Gruppe lädt zu einer sehr besonderen Veranstaltung ein: Die Vernissage meines freihand gesprühten Graffiti Art Mural Wandbildes mit Bezug zur Quantenhistorie am Gebäude des Institut für Informatik Modulares Supercomputing und Quanten-Computing an der Goethe-Universität Frankfurt | Campus Bockenheim, Kettenhofweg 139, 60325 Frankfurt am Main im Rahmen der Ausstellung »Fixing Futures« des Museum Giersch am Mittwoch, 25.06.2025, um 15:00 Uhr.

Es wird einen Rundgang entlang des gesprühten Graffiti Art Mural Wandbildes mit Erläuterungen von mir zu dieser Arbeit geben. Hoffentlich erkläre ich alles richtig, als absoluter Laie. Daumen drücken.

Aber wie sage ich immer? Es gibt gar kein richtig und falsch …

Die Veranstaltung ist öffentlich und daher sind alle Besucher herzlich willkommen …

There will be a guided tour along the graffiti art mural with explanations from me about this work. Hopefully, I’ll explain everything correctly, as a complete layman. Fingers crossed.
