Kultur trifft Kultur

Mit Graffiti Art, respektive Street Art hatte ich ursprünglich nichtkommerziell, sogar wild (»ach du meine Güte …«) begonnen. Auch das ein durchaus ein Teil unserer heutigen Kultur. Damit dieser Blog eben nicht nur meine kommerzielle Arbeiten präsentiert und ein falsches Bild entsteht, werde ich von Zeit zu Zeit auch freie Arbeiten präsentieren, von denen ich jährlich mehr erstelle als ich zeigen kann.

Kulturelle Bestandteile aus vorangegangenen Zeiten findet man jede Menge, vor allen Dingen in Italien. Ende April 2018 war ich mit zwei Freunden in Perugia, der Hauptstadt von Umbrien und hatte dort Gelegenheit mit den einheimischen Sprühkünstlern BERO TDS (The death squad) und NOEK eine Fläche bei weit über 35 Grad in der prallen Sonne zu gestalten. Danke an Mr. Wany für den Kontakt. Perugia und die umgebenden Orte sind ein echtes Paradies. Es lohnt sich Assisi (ja, das mit dem heiligen Franziskus/Francisco), Spello und die vielen kleinen Orte zu besuchen.

Ebenfalls nicht zu verachten und ein schöner Übergang zum Thema Wandgestaltung ist die Kapelle San Severo, in der ein durch Pietro Perugino vollendetes Fresko von Raffael (Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino, Raffael da Urbino, Raffaello Santi) erhalten geblieben ist. Wir hatten eine fantastische Unterkunft bei einem Rechtsanwalt in direkter Nachbarschaft dazu mit einem Blick über die gesamte Ebene bis nach Assisi von zwei Dachterrassen, die als höchste Aussichtspunkte der Stadt gelten können.

Hochwertige Bestandteile der frischen Speisen sind dort ein Standard und so herrlich, tagsüber und abends findet das Leben auf der Piaza und den Straßen statt. Man hat nicht wirklich den Eindruck in einer Kleinstadt zu sein und genießt das dolce vita …

Culture meets culture

My start with Graffiti Art or Street Art was originally non-commercial, even wild (»oh my goodness …«). That too is also a part of our culture today. To represent on this blog not only my commercial work and to create the wrong picture, from time to time I decide to show free works, of which I also create more every year than I can show.

You will find a lot of cultural elements from previous times, especially in Italy. At the end of April 2018, I was with two friends in Perugia, the capital of Umbria, and I had the opportunity to create a wall of well over 35 degrees in the blazing sun with the local spray artists BERO TDS (The death squad) and NOEK. Thanks to Mr. Wany for the contact.

Perugia and the surrounding towns are a real paradise. It is worth visiting Assisi (yes, that with St. Francis / Francisco), Spello and the many small places.

Also a beautiful transition to the theme of wall design is the chapel of San Severo, in which you could enjoy looking closely to a fresco by Raphael (Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino, Raffael da Urbino, Raffaello Santi) completed by Pietro Perugino. Its the last existing work wich has been preserved. We had fantastic accommodation with a lawyer in the immediate vicinity, with a view across the plain to Assisi from two rooftop terraces that can be considered as the highest vantage points in the city.

High-quality components of the fresh food are standard there and so wonderful, during the day and in the evening life takes place on the Piaza and the streets. You do not really have the impression to spend your time in a small town and enjoy the dolce vita …

Heureka !

Griechenland aus der Sicht deutscher und griechischer Künstler

Mit Griechenland verbindet viele von uns nicht nur den Ursprung des westlichen, europäischen Denkens und der Philosophie, sondern auch eine Landschaft und herzliche Einwohner. 2019 war ich auch das erste Mal persönlich dort, auf der Insel Kos. Schon 2000 wurde ich nach Athen zum Meeting of Styles/MOS durch Woozy/Kiriakos Iosifidis (Autor von Mural Art, Bike Art und Mural Masters) eingeladen. Damals schickte ich noch durch meinen Hinderungsgrund, die Flugphobie den nicht minder bekannten Klark Kent/Mario Laugell nach Griechenland. Heute würde sich das so nicht mehr darstellen.

2014 wurde ich angefragt, für die Griechische Zentrale für Fremdenverkehr im Treppenhaus und die Geschäftsführungsräume (wie immer freihand ohne Hilfsmittel, ohne Schablone o.ä.) Werke zu gestalten. Aufgrund der Begeisterung über die Ergebnisse lud mich der Verein Griechischer Akademiker Frankfurt am Main e.V. ein, drei Arbeiten für eine Ausstellung zu erstellen.

Organisiert wurde eine Ausstellung mit Kunstwerken deutschen und griechischen Künstler mit dem Ziel, die Freundschaftsbeziehungen zwischen den Ländern zu fördern und zu stärken. Folgende Künstler nehmen an der Ausstellung teil: Christos Bouronikos, Willy Dorn, Klaus-Valtin von Eickstedt, Alexander Haßenpflug, Jannis Psychopedis, Pavlos Samios, Helge Steinmann und Bernd Wagner.

Die Werke werden vom 19. November bis zum 13. Dezember 2019 zu den Geschäftszeiten von 9:00-16:00 Uhr, Donnerstags 9:00-18.00 Uhr in den Räumen des Kundenzentrums der Frankfurter Sparkasse in der Neuen Mainzer Straße 47-53 in 60311 Frankfurt am Main zu sehen sein. Willkommen zur Vernissage am Dienstag, 19. November 2019, ab 19:00 Uhr, die Landtagspräsident Boris Rhein eröffnen wird.

Greece from the perspective of German and Greek artists

Not only does the origins of Western, European thought and philosophy connect me with Greece, but in 2019 it was the first time for me, that I spent time personally over there, on the island of Kos. Already in 2000 I was invited to Athens for the Meeting of Styles / MOS by Woozy / Kiriakos Iosifidis (author of books like Mural Art, Bike Art and Mural Masters). At that time, due to my obstacle, the phobia of flying sent me the no less well-known Klark Kent / Mario Laugell to Greece. This would not be the case today.

In 2014, I was asked to design some artwork in the staircase and some artwork at the management rooms for the Hellenic Tourist Office (as usual freehand without tools, without stencil or similar). Due to the enthusiasm about the results, the Association of Greek Academics Frankfurt am Main e.V. invited me to create three works on framed canvas for an exhibition.
This exhibition was organized with works of art by German and Greek artists with the aim of promoting and strengthening friendships between the countries. The following artists will participate in the exhibition: Christos Bouronikos, Willy Dorn, Klaus-Valtin von Eickstedt, Alexander Haßenpflug, Jannis Psychopedis, Pavlos Samios, Helge Steinmann and Bernd Wagner.

The works will take place from 19 November to 13 December 2019 during business hours from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, on Thursdays 9:00 am to 6:00 pm in the rooms of the Customer Center of Frankfurter Sparkasse in Neue Mainzer Straße 47-53 in 60311 Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Welcome to the Vernissage on Tuesday, 19 November 2019, from 19:00 clock, the President of the Parliament Boris Rhein will open.

Von Markierten, Mut, Innovationen, Werten und eigenen Wegen …

Als Pionier mit echter Historie, nicht nur im Marken-, Kommunikations-, Kunst-, sondern auch im Gestaltungsbereich war es für mich schon seit Anbeginn meines Tuns eine Genugtuung, erleben zu dürfen, wie viele von Marken erzählten, andere im Kommunikationsbereich sich hervortaten – dabei sich selbst auf die Schulter klopften, wiederum andere sich im so genannten Kunstmarkt etablieren wollten. Ich selbst bin mir treu geblieben und habe früh erkannt, daß es für mich einen Markt zu etablieren gilt.

Denn schon 1995 erschufen wir unter der Prämisse »Träume nicht dein Leben, sondern lebe deinen Traum« mit der weltweit ersten Agentur für Graffiti und Straßenkunst Oxygen ein innovatives Geschäftsfeld, dem bis heute sehr viele Nachahmer folgten.

Bis heute vollziehe ich das, was ich gerne tue, als Einkommensquelle. Ein Idealzustand.

From marked, courage, innovations, values and own ways …

As a pioneer with a true history, not only in the brand, communication, art, but also in the field of design, it has been a pleasure for me since the very beginning of my work to experience how many of the brands told others that others excelled in the field of communication – while patting themselves on the back, others wanted to establish themselves in the so-called art market. I have remained true to myself and recognized early on that it is a market for me to establish.

Already in 1995, we created under the premise »Do not dream your life, live your dreams« an innovative business field with the world’s first agency for graffiti and street art Oxygen, which was followed by many imitators until today.

To this day, I do what I like doing as a source of income. An ideal condition.

#NdM19 Backdrop Artwork Nacht der Medien

Am 24. Oktober fand im Haus der Kunst in München die Nacht der Medien im Rahmen der Medientage München statt, eine Party der Extraklasse. Vor Ort waren unter anderem KPMG, Google, Youtube und klassische Medienplayer, wie Hubert Burda Media, Servus TV, Studio Gong, BR Bayerischer Rundfunk, Antenne Bayern. Dafür erstellte ich im Vorfeld ein Backdrop-Artwork/Fotohintergrund, der wahrscheinlich fleißig für die so genannten neuen Medien genutzt wurde. Unter dem Hashtag #NdM19 wird es da sicherlich einiges zu sehen geben.

On the 24th of October the Night of the Media took place at the Haus der Kunst in Munich as part of the Medientage Munich, a party of the extra class. KPMG, Google, Youtube and classic media players such as Hubert Burda Media, Servus TV, Studio Gong, BR Bayerischer Rundfunk, Antenne Bayern were on site. For this, I created a backdrop artwork / photo background in advance, which was probably used diligently for the so-called new media. There will certainly be a lot to see under the hashtag # NdM19.

Pleinair Spraying

Schon im April 2017 durfte ich für Rewe und die Bauherrin GWH zwei voluminöse Wandbilder im Neubau der Mainzer Landstraße in Frankfurt als urban painting erstellen. Natürlich wurden die Gallus-Motive ohne Beamer oder Projektor realisiert und mit der Farbdose als eine Art Rötelzeichnung in großformatig »gezeichnet«. In dem Zug schlug ich vor eine PleinAir Sprayerei realisieren zu können. Zur Eröffnung des Rewe erstellte ich flux zwei Motive der Fassade und der Mainzer Landstraße auf Keilrahmen-Leinwand.

As early as April 2017, I was able to create two voluminous murals for Rewe and the client GWH in the new building of Mainzer Landstrasse in Frankfurt as urban painting. Of course, the Gallus motifs were realized without a projector and with the spraycan as a kind of red chalk drawing in large format „drawn“. In that case I suggested to realize a PleinAir spray painting. For the opening of the Rewe, I created two motifs of the façade and the Mainzer Landstraße on canvas.

Die Kugel der Welt

Eine runde Sache, so würde ein Klischee -Text anfangen … Globus ist der lateinische Ausdruck für Kugel und das habe ich mir dann auch bei meiner Umsetzung zu Herzen genommen. Der Globus Markt in Hattersheim beauftragte mich, Hattersheimer Wahrzeichen in Bezug zur Marke Globus zu setzen. Ich entschloß mich, die Gestaltung in den Corporate Tönen des Marktes in sechs Meter Höhe zu realisieren. Weiterhin bekamen stadtteileigene architektonische Highlights einen Platz. So bekam die Eddersheimer Flettner-Villa, die Staustufe Eddersheim, das Wasserwerk, zwischen Okriftel und Hattersheim, sowie die Okrifteler Phrix, ebenso der Posthof und Rosen (als Stellvertreter für das Rosarium) als Zeichen Hattersheims Flächen am Ein- bzw. Übergang zum zweiten Stockwerk des Marktes. Für alle drei Stadtteile kamen die Wappen zum Zug. Für Hattersheim zeigt sich der auf einem Bembel, flankiert von einem Gerippten. Prost.

The globe of the world

A round thing, that would start a cliché text … Globus is the Latin expression for ball and that’s what I have recognized especially for the realization of this artwork. The Globus Market in Hattersheim asked me to set Hattersheim’s landmarks in relation to the Globus brand. I decided to realize the design in the corporate tones of the market at a height of six meters. Furthermore, district architectural features got a place. So there was space for the Eddersheim Flettner Villa, the barrage Eddersheim, the waterworks, between Okriftel and Hattersheim, and the Okrifteler Phrix, as well as the Posthof and roses (as representative for the Rosarium) as a sign Hattersheim areas at the entrance or transition to the second floor of the market. For all three districts I realised very prominent the coats of arms. Hattersheims coat its located on a Bembel, flanked by a ribbed glas. Cheers.

Sky isn’t the limit …

Man würde es nicht fassen, wenn man es nicht selbst erleben dürfte. Dieses Wochenende ist es wieder soweit, denn da performen wir mit dem unfassbaren Luma Paint tool auf dem Kettenreaktion Festival auf dem großartigen Campus Attisholz in Solothurn, Schweiz, der ehemals größten Papierfabrik Europas, die seit 2016 in eine urbanen Kunst- Plattform gestaltet wurde. Hinkommen und Spaß haben und mit uns live vor Ort malen. Hier noch Fotos der großen Eröffnung des Uferparks am Attisholz vom 24.05.2019.

This weekend, we perform again with the famous lightpainting and lightgraffiti action tool luma paint at the Kettenreaktion festival 2019 at great Campus Attisholz in Riedholz-Solothurn/Switzerland, a former Europes biggest paper production area, which is now a huge urban art playground. Im Vorfeld des 24 Stunden Rennens (Total 24 hours of Spa) in Spa, Belgien durften wir für Mercedes-AMG die Präsentationsfläche des dort gezeigten Mercedes-AMG A 45 4Matic+ mit Tape Art am 24. Juli 2019 prominent gestalten. An einem der heissesten Tage des Jahres mit über 40 Grad in der Sonne, war das ein anstrengendes Unterfangen. Trotz dieser widrigen Umstände ist das Ergebnis sehr zeigbar geworden …

At one of the hottest days of this year with a temperature over 40 degrees celcius, we did tape art onto the podest of the presentation area of an brandnew Mercedes-AMG A 45 4Matic+. Glaub‘ ich nich!

Viele Medien reden ja momentan von Digitalität, KI, Robotik und der Verknüpfung mit der Rechnerwelt. Angeblich kommuniziert alles und das dann auch noch zukünftig selbstlernend unter- bzw. miteinander, das so genannte Internet of things / Iot. Ich bin schon gespannt, worüber sich mein Staubsauger mit meiner Badewanne unterhalten wird und ob ich das unbedingt mitbekommen muss ;-).

Seltsamerweise geht diese Entwicklung komplett bisher am so genannten öffentlichen Raum vorbei (an der Komplettkontrolle durch automatisierten Gesichtserkennung hingegen wird eifrig gerarbeitet), denn dort wird meist nur in eine Richtung kommuniziert. Zumindest was den analogen Bereich angeht, denn überall schmettern einem Befehle, Meinungen und Versprechen entgegen, meist klassisch auf Flächen gedruckt oder aber als Beklebung. Im Gegenzug daraufhin zu reagieren, also zu kommentieren bzw. zu re-agieren wird dann gerne mit einer klassischen Sachbeschädigung geahndet.

Aktuelle Innovationen, auch und gerade digitaler Art sind fast alles Ergebnisse von Grenzüberschreitungen bzw. Gesetzesübertritte. Wo bleibt da der analoge Raum?

Um diese Lücke zu schließen habe ich seit 2014 ein nettes Kunstprojekt für die etwas andere Art der Kommunikation im Raum gestartet. Nämlich reale selbstklebende Kommentarfunktionen, die als signalgelbe Sticker auf o.g. Kommunikationsmaßnahmen kleben können: Die Sticker Glaub‘ ich nich! oder in englisch I don’t believe it! sind bei mir im Atelier auf Anfrage erhältlich.

Wieso die Oberhoheit über die Kommunikationswege Werbe- und Mediaagenturen, Malermeistern und Fahrzeugbeklebern überlassen ? Ein Hoch auf die Intervention.

I don’t believe it!

Many media actors talk about digitality, robotic and AI in combination with computer technology. Supposedly is everything communicating in a self-learning or communicative way and this is called the internet of things. I’ m curious about what my vacuum cleaner is going to say to my bathtub and if I have to know about it.

Strangely this development is completely over by openspace (whereas they can work intensively on the new face recognition technology) because it is a one – sided communication. At least regarding the analogue area, because drills, opinions and promises are launched everywhere, mainly printed on classical surfaces or gluing. Reactions to this are likely punished as a damage property in return.
Actual innovation, also and especially the digital way of art is a result of crossing borders and crossing border movements. Where is space for the analogue space? For closing this gap, I have started a nice art project in a different way of communication in space in 2004.
Namely real self gluing commentary functions, which are glued as signal yellow stickers on these mentioned communicationidea plans. The sticker: I don’t believe it are offered on demand in German and English at my atelier.

Why should we leave the supremacy for our communication skills with the media agencies, master painter and vehicle wraps? Therefore, roll on with intervention.
