Für Regisseur und Filmemacher Hermann Vaske und dessen Produktionsbüro Emotional Network sprühte ich freihand zwei Portraits des Hauptdarstellers, dem international bekannten Schauspieler Udo Kier für das von ARTE mitproduzierte Dokuportrait Arteholic. Beide Graffiti-Portraits waren auf der Größe 80 x 100 cm angelegt. Ein Werk wurde in einer Szene im Film am Strand durch Kier mit dem Messer zerschnitten, die andere behielt der Star. Weitere Darsteller waren Rosemarie Trockel, Udo Kittelmann, Marc Brandenburg, Jonathan Meese, Marcel Odenbach, Nicolette Krebitz, Max Hollein, Tobias Rehberger, Nikolaus Hirsch und Lars von Trier.
For director and filmmaker Hermann Vaske and his production office Emotional Network, I freehand sprayed two portraits of the main actor, the internationally known actor Udo Kier, for the documentary portrait Arteholic, co-produced by ARTE. Both graffiti portraits were sized 80 x 100 cm. One work was cut up with a knife by Kier on the beach in a scene in the film, the star kept the other.
Other actors included Rosemarie Trockel, Udo Kittelmann, Marc Brandenburg, Jonathan Meese, Marcel Odenbach, Nicolette Krebitz, Max Hollein, Tobias Rehberger, Nikolaus Hirsch and Lars von Trier.
Das, was 1991 für die »Zwei im Zweiten« mit Thomas Gottschalk und Günther Jauch auf der IFA, der Internationalen Funkausstellung begann ist heute nach wie vor oft angefragt: Bühnendekoration und Backgrounds für Film und TV. Ob ganze Fahrzeuge, Fahrzeugoberflächen und Gesamtgestaltungen für Bühnenbilder spielt keine Rolle. Die Farbsprühdose funktioniert auf nahezu allen Oberflächen problemlos. Ich selbst durfte auch schon einige Male als Showsprayer in diversen Filmen und Tv-Produktionen mitwirken. Selbst Live auf einer Bühne zu sprühen ist keine Seltenheit und erstaunt viele über die Geschwindigkeit der Gestaltungserstellung.
Auf der IFA damals durfte ich spontan damals unter anderem für folgende Gäste spontan Bühnenhintergründe sprühen: Dalai Lama, Nina Hagen, Matt Bianco, Midge Ure von Ultravox, Max Schautzer, Ingolf Lück, Gotthilf Fischer.
Hintergrund: 1991 rief mich KATMANDO aus München von der IFA in Berlin an, da er nicht alleine mit dem Job für das ZDF fertig wurde. Er sollte sämtliche Bühnenhintergründe für alle Shows von die »Zwei im Zweiten« mit Günther Jauch und Thomas Gottschalk über zwei Wochen sprühen. Nach der ersten Woche bemerkte er, daß er es alleine nicht realiseren konnte. Also setzte ich mich ins Auto und bretterte nach Berlin. Kurz nachdem ich in aufsammelte fuhren wir um die Ecken der IFA und sahen Karl Dall auf dem Fahrrad. Vor Ort sprühten wir dann täglich ca. zwei bis drei Bühnenhintergründe, sowie alle Einzelelemente der Backgrounds. Morgens bekamen wir die Listen der auftretenden Künstler von Ausstatter Hilmar F. Hirseland mit den Titeln und improvierten wir dann spontan, da nachmittags live gesendet wurde. Abends waren wir dann öfter mit der Berliner Oldschool-Legende Dennis Kaun a.k.a KAOS (heute Terranova) und dessen Mitbewohner Kid Paul im Fischlabor, einer für damaligen Verhältnissen unglaublich hippen Bar mit Flokati an den Wänden und Live DJ (damals eine absolute Innovation).
What began in 1991 for the »2 in second« with Thomas Gottschalk and Günther Jauch at the IFA, the international radio exhibition, is still in great demand today: stage decoration and backgrounds for film and TV. Whole vehicles, vehicle surfaces and overall designs for stage sets do not matter. The spray can works without problems on almost all surfaces. I myself have been allowed to act as a show sprayer in various films and TV productions. Even spraying live on a stage is not uncommon and amazes many people at the speed of design creation.

Background: In 1991 KATMANDO from Munich called me from the IFA in Berlin because he could not finish the job for ZDF alone. He was supposed to spray all the stage backgrounds for all the shows of the “Zwei im Zwei” with Günther Jauch and Thomas Gottschalk over two weeks. After the first week, he noticed that he couldn’t do it alone. So I got in the car and boarded for Berlin. Shortly after I picked up in we drove around the corners of the IFA and saw Karl Dall on the bike. On site we sprayed about two to three stage backgrounds every day, as well as all individual elements of the backgrounds. In the morning we got the lists of the performing artists from the outfitter Hilmar F. Hirseland with the titles and we spontaneously improvised, because we broadcast live in the afternoon. In the evening we were often with the Berlin old school legend Dennis Kaun a.k.a KAOS (now Terranova) and his roommate Kid Paul in the fish laboratory, a bar that was incredibly hip at the time with flokati on the walls and live DJ (then an absolute innovation).

Für Hedwig and the Angry Inch, einem mit zahlreichen Preisen ausgezeichnetem US-amerikanischem Off-Broadway-Rock-Musical aus dem Jahr 1998 über eine erdachte Rock-’n’-Roll-Band mit einer Ost-Berliner Drag-Queen als Sänger gestaltete ich unter Mithilfe von Fedor Wildhardt/Cantwo für die Deutschland Version von und mit dem begnadeten Nigel Francis als Hedwig die Bühne im Neuen Theater Höchst, 2009 und 2011.
I designed Hedwig and the Angry Inch, an award-winning American off-Broadway rock musical from 1998 about a fictional rock ’n‘ roll band with an East Berlin drag queen as singer with the help of Fedor Wildhardt/Cantwo for the Germany version of and with the gifted Nigel Francis as Hedwig on the stage at the New Theater Höchst, 2009 and 2011.

Im Jahre 2011 wurde ich vom Frankfurter Produktionsbüro 27 films production ffm gmbh des finnischen Regisseurs Timo Vuorensola aus Helsinki angefragt ob ich für ein Crowdfunding-Spielfilmprojekt namens Iron Sky einen Volkswagen VW Bulli gestalten könne. Dieser Bulli hätte eine tragende Rolle einer Szene in New York zu spielen. Angesagt für den Film waren, daß es eine gute CGI, eine echt abgedrehte Story (Nazis haben auf der dunklen Seite des Mondes überlebt und eine Basis mit Raumschiffen dort) und gute Darsteller, wie Udo Kier, Götz Otto und Julia Dietze gäbe. Ich sagte zu und überlegte, nachdem ich die Szenenstory bekam, wie ich den Bulli umgestalten könne.
Dieser kam schon mit Airbrush für einen Energydrinkanbieter umgestaltet und mit einer megafetten Anlage ausgestattet aus Ungarn.
Ich gestaltete ihn mit Ratten und Typolösungen in reiner Bi-Colorästhetik, da es sich um Farben der Nazi-Corporate handelte: Schwarz, Weiß, Rot.
Der Bus gefiel dem Regisseur wohl so gut, daß er ihn nach dem Dreh mit nach Finnland verschiffen ließ und ihn wohl jetzt immer noch besitzt.
In 2011, I was asked by the Frankfurt production office 27 films production ffm gmbh of the Finnish director Timo Vuorensola from Helsinki whether I could design a van for a crowdfunding feature film project called Iron Sky. This Volkswagen Van VW Bulli would have to play a key role in a scene in New York. What was announced for the film was that there would be good CGI, a really crazy story (Nazis survived on the dark side of the moon and a base with spaceships there) and good actors like Udo Kier, Götz Otto and Julia Dietze. I agreed and, after I got the story, thought about how I could redesign the van.
This came from Hungary already redesigned with airbrush for an energy drink supplier and equipped with a mega-fat system.
I designed it with rats and typographic solutions in a pure bi-color aesthetic, as they were Nazi corporate colors: black, white, red.
The director probably liked the bus so much that he had it shipped to Finland after filming and probably still has it now.
