Embedded within the German word *Bildung* (education) lies the word *Bild* (image). For the majority of students in Germany, formal schooling likely centers on logical and factual matters—an arena where the so-called STEM subjects are expected to play the leading role, and where, by all appearances, the cultivation of knowledge is permitted to engage with artistic and poetic themes only in a cursory manner. The reasons for this may be manifold.

However, elites—both at home and abroad—are well aware of the vital importance of the Muses within the broader context of a human life. For what else would justify such immense effort?

The nightmare of hysterical educators: Supervised Vandalism. And this has been going on for over 30 years now. Art empowers not only children and adolescents but also so-called adults: Graffiti art—whether viewed as a subset of Urban Art, as the art of rebellion, or simply as the creative act of painting with spray cans—has, over the past few decades, successfully established itself as a legitimate artistic achievement. Segments of society have come to recognize that the knowledge, skills, and aptitudes cultivated through this practice—such as self-discipline, self-organization, and personal accountability, as well as „soft skills“ like problem-solving, teamwork, communication, presentation, ambition, and motivation—when applied creatively, serve not only to inspire children and adolescents but can also bring joy to people of nearly every age group. Putting one’s personal skills to use—and coaxing out one’s dormant talents—boosts the self-confidence of many participants and actively enhances their sense of self-worth.
