Wir haben Anfang/Mitter der 90er unfassbar viel zusammen erlebt. 1990 eine gemeinsame Ausstellung in der Galerie des Vonderaumuseums in Fulda, eine große Graffiti Street Art-Mural 1994 in Klein-Welzheim bei Seligenstadt, zusammen mit Darco (Paris), Daim, Katmando, Can2, Specter (Paris), Skena, Blok & Shok, die nach wie vor existiert und eine Reise nach Österreich zu Creative 5 nach Wolfurt bei der ich live auf einem Firmenevent eine Leinwand sprühte und wir bei der sehr musikalischen Inhaberfamilie wohnten. Dabei lernte ich meine Liebe zum Schlagzeugspielen kennen. Die Skizzen in meinem Blackbook aus dem Zug in dem wir uns gegenseitig portraitierten sind mir eine liebevolle Erinnerung.

Die Fahrt zur Ausstellung nach Fulda 1990 in meinem Käfer wird mir immer in Erinnerung bleiben, da wir die übergroßen teils besprühten Keilrahmen-Leinwände (120 x 160 cm u.ä. Größen) mit Panzerband auf dem Dach meines VW-Käfers festklebten und damit auf die Autobahn fuhren, jeder mit seinem Arm die Leinwände festhaltend, da die durch die Geschwindigkeit diese natürlich sich aufblähten und wegfliegen zu drohten.

1999 stellten wir gemeinsam im Marburger KFZ zusammen mit meinem GBF Crewmember Seak aus.
Diese Werke wurden ihm dann durch Mietschulden weggepfändet, die teilweise immer noch dort bei einer Firma Bossmann einlagern. Ich selbst konnte nur meine eigenen Werke aus dieser Pfändung zurückholen.

Ebenfalls 2007 war er dabei als ich Fotografenlegende Martha Cooper aus NYC am Hbf Frankfurt für die Hip Hop Expo dort abholte und wir uns auf dem White Gallery Event der Telekom in Köln wiedertrafen.

R.I.P. Alesh One

I have just learned that my loyal companion and friend Alesh Pliml—also known as Alesh One or Merlin—passed away peacefully at home this past Saturday. Originally from Prague, his journey took him through Seligenstadt, Marburg, and Siegen before he finally settled in Hamburg. After battling severe laryngeal cancer, he had visited me and my studio with his brother as recently as October 2025.

We experienced an incredible amount together during the early to mid-90s. There was a joint exhibition in 1990 at the Vonderau Museum gallery in Fulda; a large graffiti/street art mural created in 1994 in Klein-Welzheim (near Seligenstadt) alongside Darco (Paris), Daim, Katmando, Can2, Specter (Paris), Skena, Blok, and Shok—a piece that still exists today; and a trip to Wolfurt, Austria, for „Creative 5,“ where I spray-painted a canvas live at a corporate event while we stayed with the owners—a very musical family. It was during that trip that I discovered my love for playing the drums. The sketches in my blackbook—drawn on the train as we sketched portraits of each other—remain a cherished memory.

The drive to the Fulda exhibition in 1990 in my VW Beetle is something I will never forget: we used duct tape to secure oversized, partially spray-painted canvases (120 x 160 cm and similar sizes) to the roof of the car and hit the highway. We each had to hold onto the canvases with one arm because the speed caused them to billow out, threatening to fly off.

In 1999, we held a joint exhibition at the KFZ in Marburg together with Seak, a fellow member of my GBF crew.
Those works were later seized due to unpaid rent; some of them are reportedly still in storage at a company called Bossmann. I was only able to retrieve my own works from that seizure. It was also in 2007 that he was with me when I picked up the legendary NYC photographer Martha Cooper at Frankfurt Central Station for the Hip Hop Expo, and we met up again at Telekom’s White Gallery event in Cologne.

Most recently, Alesh lived and worked in Hamburg. See also https://www.aleshone.com.

After 1.5 years, my studio space in Hofheim was—kindly—given notice of termination effective July 1, 2026; consequently, my studio, BOMBER, is now located at Taunusstraße 8 (rear building) in 65795 Hattersheim-Okriftel, Germany.

Mein Thema der Realisierung/Wahrnehmung und Mitgestaltung des öffentlichen und privaten Raums via Farbe, Material und Ästhetik, gemeinhin auch als Graffiti Art, Street Art, Stylewriting oder Urbane Kunst bezeichnet eröffnete mir 2012 an der Brüder-Grimm Schule in Frankfurt und 2013/2014 an der Carl-von-Weinberg Schule in Frankfurt-Niederrad die Möglichkeit gemeinsam mit Schulkids Flächen in und an den Schulen mit Acryllack-Farbsprühdosen und Fassadenfarbe zu gestalten.

Dass es hierbei um mehr als nur »Kunst« geht, erscheint für viele Lehrkräfte und Pädagogen klar, da das Thema Graffiti, respektive Street Art viele Bereiche berührt, institutionalisiert oft eher belächelt wird und soziologisch eher dann der Prävention dient als dem gestalterischen Empfinden. Dabei sollen die Schüler danach Verantwortung für ihren Raum und Ihr Artwork übernehmen.

Tatsächlich, und das ist leider auch sehr oft der Fall, geht es gar nicht um die Gestaltungswucht und den Ausdruck der Artworks, sondern um deren Wirkung auf die zu Beschulenden (herrliches Wort) und deren Nachfolger. 

Das Ganze ist also auch hier wieder mehr als nur Technik, Wissen und Transfer dieser Informationen, sondern spielt in viele Bereiche.

Die Gestaltung bzw. die Ästhetik z.B. von Stylewriting-Graffiti Art ist für viele nur Klischee und spielt keine Rolle. Zu austauschbar und kunsthistorisch zu wenig nachvollziehbar ist die Fülle der Graffiti-Street Artists und deren Stilistik. Daher wird pädogisch oft viel auf gemeingültige und leicht verständliche sozialkompatible Aussagen in Bildwelten wie Illustrationen und werbische Ästhetiken gesetzt. 

Nun bin ich zum dritten Mal Schulkünstler, dieses Mal an der Goetheschule in Neu-Isenburg für das kommende Schuljahr 2027 und das obengenannte wird bei mir nicht passieren.

Der mediale Feixtanz Menschen in Sicherheit zu wiegen und einzulullen wird bei mir hinterfragt. 

Von allem zuviel und trotzdem Wachstum … eine ziemlich klare Analyse unseres medial transportierten Wirtschaftsdogmas, die Kabarettist Volker Piespers schon vor über 15 Jahren entlarvte. Dieser Satz beschreibt meiner Meinung nach ganz gut, warum wir so eine hysterisch reagieren: Wir lesen Krise und meinen Überstättigung. Wir jammern, ob der Entsozialisierung der Gesellschaft, obwohl fast alle in sozialen Netzwerken aktiv sind.

Echtes Stylewriting/Graffiti Art ist eines der wenigen wirklich kritischen und weltverändernden Künste und Kreativität bedeutet auch immer Protest über herrschende Zustände der einen umgebenden Welt. Es bedeutet individuell nicht nur künstlerisch/gestalterisch seine Stilistik zu entdecken, zu fördern, Selbstständigkeit und Innovation zu lernen, sondern überhaupt, der berühmte Tellerrand … darüber hinauszudenken.

Wir dürfen also gespannt sein, wie reflektiv Kids auf die digitale Übermacht mit analogen Gerätschaften agieren.

Could you lend me 5 trillion euros?

There is little resistance or alternative to the dominance of so-called STEM subjects in the secondary education systems of Germany. One nice idea for transforming the image of art—giving it more merit (while remaining inherently subversive)—is the »School Artist«-project run by the Frankfurt Sparkasse Foundation.

My work focuses on the realization, perception, and co-creation of public and private spaces through color, material, and aesthetics—commonly known as graffiti art, street art, style writing, or urban art. In 2012 (at the Brüder-Grimm School in Frankfurt) and 2013/2014 (at the Carl-von-Weinberg School in Frankfurt-Niederrad), this gave me the opportunity to collaborate with students on designing surfaces inside and outside the schools using acrylic spray paints and facade paint.

Many teachers and educators clearly recognize that this involves more than just »art«, as the subject of graffiti—or street art—touches on many areas; within institutions, it is often met with a dismissive smile and viewed sociologically primarily as a tool for prevention. The goal is for students to subsequently take ownership of their space and their artwork.

In reality—and this is unfortunately all too often the case—the focus is not on the creative impact or expression of the artworks themselves, but rather on their effect on the »school-attendees« (a delightful term) and their successors.

Thus, the entire endeavor transcends mere technique, knowledge, and the transfer of information, extending instead into a wide range of other areas.

For many, the design—or aesthetics—of style-writing graffiti art is nothing more than a cliché and holds no significance. The sheer number of graffiti and street artists, along with their stylistic variations, makes the field seem too interchangeable and difficult to grasp from an art-historical perspective. Consequently, educational approaches often prioritize universally valid, easily understood, and socially acceptable imagery, such as illustrations and advertising-style aesthetics. I am now serving as a school artist for the third time—this time at the Goetheschule in Neu-Isenburg for the upcoming 2027 school year—and the scenario mentioned above will not happen in my case.

I question the media’s gloating dance designed to lull people into a false sense of security.

»Too much of everything, yet growth continues…«—a rather clear analysis of the economic dogma propagated by the media, one that cabaret artist Volker Piespers exposed over 15 years ago. In my view, this phrase aptly describes why we react so hysterically: we read »crisis« but mean «oversaturation.« We lament the erosion of social cohesion, even though almost everyone is active on social networks.

Authentic style writing—or graffiti art—is one of the few truly critical and world-changing art forms; creativity always implies a protest against the prevailing conditions of the world around us. On an individual level, it means not only discovering and cultivating one’s own artistic style and learning independence and innovation, but also—crucially—thinking beyond the confines of one’s own limited horizon.

It will be interesting to see how reflectively kids respond to digital dominance using analog tools.

In 2023, I had the opportunity to decorate the master bedroom of refereeing legend Lutz Wagner—and especially that of his wife, Petra—with a North Sea motif. As always, I created the design freehand using standard acrylic spray paints.

Lutz Wagner is currently serving as a guest commentator for the men’s 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Anders, wenn man in der Realität seine Bookmark hinterlassen darf. Der Anschein des leicht zu erstellenden Protestes und des Namedropping auf Oberflächen im angeblich ungeschützten Raum verleitet viele Kids und Jugendliche dazu, zu vermuten professionelle Sachbeschädigung sei ein Leichtes.

Meine Erfahrung reicht weit zurück (-zum Jahr 1990 um genau zu sein-) um dem massiv zu widersprechen und darüber gerne aufzuklären.

Beim Aufräumen habe ich gerade diese Referenz, einen Artikel im Senckenberg-Wissenschaftsmagazin aus dem Jahr 2013 gefunden, als ich mit einer vierten Klasse der Frankfurter Schule am Erlenbach das Projekt »Wie stellt ihr euch die Natur in Zukunft vor?« im Rahmen der Ausstellung Planet 3.0 Klima.Leben.Zukunft des Senckenberg Museums in Frankfurt realisierte.

Dort in unmittelbarer Nähe des Eingangs zum Museum sprühte ich mit und für die Kids deren Vorschläge auf einen ca. 6 m hohen Doppelcontainer. Die Vorschläge waren durch die Bank weg vom wilden Affen gebissen und ich hatte Riesenspaß die Ideen umzusetzen, teilweise unter den strengen Augen der Autoren, die mir da immer wieder auch Korrekturen ansagten.

Insgesamt ein Projekt, daß sicher Leuchtturmfunktion hatte und Nachahmer fand.

Just learn whatever you want …

Learning processes aren’t supposed to be fun—at least not in the middle school grades of the traditional school system. Attention, it seems, has become nothing more than a feigned pretense on the part of those being „instructed“ (!!!).

It is a different story, however, when one gets to leave one’s „bookmark“ in the real world. The illusion of easily executed protest—and of name-dropping across surfaces within supposedly unprotected public spaces—leads many kids and teenagers to assume that professional-grade vandalism is a walk in the park.

My own experience dates back quite a way—to 1990, to be precise—and allows me to strongly refute this notion, as well as to happily set the record straight.

While tidying up recently, I stumbled upon this particular reference: an article from the 2013 issue of the *Senckenberg* science magazine. It documents a project I undertook with a fourth-grade class from the *Schule am Erlenbach* in Frankfurt, titled »How Do You Imagine Nature in the Future?« The project was realized as part of the Senckenberg Museum Frankfurt’s exhibition Planet 3.0: Climate.Life.Future.

Right there, in the immediate vicinity of the museum entrance, I worked alongside—and on behalf of—the kids to spray-paint their ideas onto a double-stacked shipping container standing approximately six meters high. Their suggestions were, without exception, absolutely wild and wacky; I had a blast bringing their ideas to life—at times working under the watchful eyes of the young „authors“ themselves, who would frequently call out corrections as I worked.

All in all, it was a project that undoubtedly served as a beacon of inspiration and found plenty of imitators.

Portrait Bomber mit Tag, Schirn FFM 02-2024

Dieses Jahr startet so derbe mit Umwälzungen, daß es selbst mich wundert.
Der Mai ist krass, der Juni ebenfalls. Der Juli wird wahrscheinlich auch derbe.

Erst stirbt jetzt Anfang Mai Ralf Scheffler (einer der Gründer des legendären Clubs und Konzerthalle Batschkapp) mit 77. Ohne ihn, Klaus Naumann, Siniša Vrdoljak, Eduard (Lee Harvey) Oswald, und Doro Weikert hätte ich niemals 2004 die Fassade der Batschkapp als legendäres Street Artwork Graffiti-Mural sprühen können.

12.06.2026 ab 14.30 bin ich mit meinem Atelier BOMBER für Urbane Kommunikation mit dem Punkt Live Urban Graffiti Street Art Teil des offiziellen Programms der Open – Design Week sowie des World Design Capital Frankfurt RheinMain 2026. Welcome world.

Dann kommt Flo Gaag, der Regisseur von Wholetrain (u.a. mit dem damals noch unbekannten Elyas M’Barek) am 17.06.2026 nach Wiesbaden zur Murnaustiftung im Rahmen des Meeting of Styles Festivals meines DBL Crewbuddies Manuel Gerullis. Flo kam zusammen mit den beteiligten Graffiti Stylewriting Artists und meinen FBI-Crew Buddies CEMNOZ und NEON (FBI, TFP) 2005 vor den Film-Aufnahmen der Wholetrain-Zugszenen in Polen zu meiner damaligen Freundin Susi und mir nach Hanau-Kesselstadt, wo wir damals neben dem Schloß Philippsruhe residierten. In Wiesbaden werden jetzt im Juni neben den beiden Stylewriting Meistern auch die Graffiti-Ikone WON (ABC) vor Ort sein, den ich schon 1992 bei meiner Ausstellung »Coming from the dark« im Rahmen des ersten Spring Jams einer staunenden Öffentlichkeit präsentierte. Die Deutsche Bahn weigerte sich offiziell für den Film einen Zug besprühen zu lassen.

Dann treffe ich am 18.06. zusammen mit Berthold Scharrer auf Mike D(iamond) von den Beastie Boys im Jüdischen Museum Frankfurt, der nicht nur mich schon seit früher Jugend begleitet. Ich habe noch ein Beastie Boys Original-Werbeposter von 1985 daß ich mir unbedingt unterschreiben lassen will.

Stefan Weil vom Atelier Markgraf, der schon länger Kontakt zu ihm hatte ihn auch auf die Schirn Ausstellung über Hip Hop »The Culture« aufmerksam gemacht. Dort taggte er direkt unter mein Graffitwriting-Tag.

Bis zum 01.07. muss ich mein Atelier geräumt haben. Das wird alles sehr sportlich.

Summer 2026

This year is starting with such dramatic upheavals that even I’m surprised.

May is intense, June too. July will probably be as well.

First, Ralf Scheffler (one of the founder of the legendary club and concert hall Batschkapp) died at the beginning of May at the age of 77. Without him, Klaus Naumann, Siniša Vrdoljak, Eduard (Lee Harvey) Oswald, and Doro Weikert, I would never have been able to spray the facade of the Batschkapp as a legendary street art graffiti mural in 2004. Thanx Ralf and a nice journey.

On June 12, 2026, starting at 2:30 p.m., my studio BOMBER for Urban Communication will be presenting „Live Urban Graffiti Street Art“ as part of the official program of Open Design Week and World Design Capital Frankfurt RheinMain 2026. Welcome.

Then, on June 17, 2026, Flo Gaag, the director of Wholetrain (which also features the then-unknown actor Elyas M’Barek), came to Wiesbaden to the Murnau Foundation as part of the Meeting of Styles Festival organized by my DBL crewmate Manuel Gerullis. Flo, along with the graffiti stylewriting artists involved and my FBI crewmates CEMNOZ and NEON (FBI, TFP), had come to visit my then-girlfriend Susi and me in Hanau-Kesselstadt, where we were staying near Philippsruhe Castle, before filming the Wholetrain train scenes in Poland. In Wiesbaden this June, in addition to the two stylewriting masters, the graffiti icon WON (ABC) will also be present, whom I already presented to an astonished public in 1992 at my exhibition »Coming from the dark« as part of the first Spring Jam. The Deutsche Bahn officially refused to allow a train to be spray-painted for the film.

Then, on June 18, I met Mike D(iamond) of the Beastie Boys at the Jewish Museum Frankfurt with Berthold Scharrer. Mike has been a part of my life since my early youth, and not only my youth. I still have an original Beastie Boys promotional poster from 1985 that I absolutely want to get signed.

Stefan Weil from Atelier Markgraf, who’d been in contact with him for a while, also drew his attention to the Schirn exhibition on hip hop, »The Culture«. He tagged my graffiti writing tag there.

I have to clear out my studio by July 1st. It’s going to be a real squeeze.

Lustige Spekulationen, die vermutlich mit politischer Absprache im Hintergrund abgehen, versauen Menschen, wie mir gehörig das was man gemeinhin als Einkommensmöglichkeit bezeichnet. Wer hier etwas reissen will, wird gerissen … sagte der Gewerbeimmobilienwolf und riss ein Handwerkerlämmlein nach dem anderen.

Ab 01.07.2026 darf ich nicht mehr in meinem Atelier BOMBER agieren und muss bis dahin weichen und meine Werkstatt geräumt haben. Unter falscher Voraussetzung hergelockt, kann man diesen Zustand auch bezeichnen. False Flag.

Dank politischer Imunität und Klüngel hinter den Kulissen interessiert das auch nahezu keinen, wenn ein seit knapp 38 Jahren selbstständig agierender freiberuflich tätiger Gestalter und Künstler wie ich mit meinem dritten Azubi plötzlich ohne Raum agieren soll.

Leerstand gibt es zuhauf, nur riesige Hallen oder Löcher ohne Tageslicht. Gewerbemietrecht ist einfach keins. Ein Anspruch besteht vermutlich auch nur auf Wohnraum, nicht auf einen selbstgeschaffenen Beruf mit Arbeitsplatz.

Dafür wurde das Objekt hier in den drei Jahren seiner Existenz angeblich schonmal dreimal verkauft. Cool. Das nenne ich mal echtes Business … echte Kreativwirtschaft.

Vermeintlich freie Märkte können mehr zahlen und Geldwäsche schafft sich auch hier Platz. Warum nicht gleich ein Spielkasino oder Barbershop hier einzieht, wundert mich schon arg.

Aber hey, Timmy der Wal, Fußball und lauter nette Belanglosigkeiten bereiten uns Brot & Spiele zu, damit wir keine unangenehmen Fragen stellen, protestieren oder besser noch, Gewalt ausüben.

Geil: 2026-das Jahr des Pferdes in dem das Pferd ähnlich wie in Farm der Tiere geopfert wird.

In 2007, I used the Sauna font for body text and Bello as the logo font and visual identity for the corporate identity and promotional materials (posters, flyers, etc.) for the Roots of Hip Hop exhibition in the then-new library in Frankfurt.

The relationship between graffiti art, graphics, typography, fontdesign, stylewriting and design is not readily apparent to many ordinary people, yet these fields are closely related. An initial exploration of this topic was presented in Form Magazine 253 from June 2014.

Schriftgestaltung & Graffitikunst

Schöne Schriften sind selten und zu Recht nicht ganz günstig. 2006 lizensierte ich als einer der ersten die herrlichen Fonts meiner Graffiti Art Buddies Underware aus den Niederlanden und Finnland, zuerst die Bello für Sony Interactive Entertainment bzw. Sony PlayStation die dich dann auch für meine Graffiti Art Kooperation namens ABSOLUTE GRAFFITI mit Fedor „CANTWO“ Wildhardt und ATOM One einsetzte. Bei der Kooperative halfen auch Bernhard-M. Schmidt und einige andere mit.

2007 nutzte ich dann den Font Sauna als Satzschrift und verwendete die Bello als Logofont bzw. Visual für die CI und die Werbemittel Plakat, Flyer etc. für die Roots of Hip Hop Ausstellung in der Neuen Bibliothek in Frankfurt.

Die Beziehung von Graffiti Art, Stylewriting, Grafik, Schrift, Fontdesign und Design ist für viele Normalbürger nicht nachvollziehbar, dabei sind diese Bereiche eng miteinander verwandt. Eine erste Beleuchtung dazu gab es im Form Magazin 253 aus dem Juni 2014.

Ich gebe momentan zusätzlich zu meinem Auszug aus meinem Studio bis zum 01.07.2026 eine zweistündige wöchentliche Street Art AG in Neu-Isenburg an der Goetheschule und eine in Frankfurt-Ginnheim.

Zusätzlich habe ich eine Menge Verwaltungspapiere zu beantworten und wundere mich immer mehr, wie andere selbstständige Einzelkämpfer damit klarkommen wollen, die hier eigenverantwortlich etwas reissen wollen.

Anscheinend ist das unmöglich und die Behörden scheinen das zu wissen. Denn nicht umsonst stehe ich hier als vermeintlich »freier« Bürger unter Generalverdacht, während ich nicht nur wirtschaftliche Sachverhalte in den Medien lesen muss, die mich noch mehr zweifeln lassen, daß es hier weder bürgernah bzw. noch im Sinne der Bevölkerung zugeht, sondern oftmals ganz klar um Klüngel, Betrug, Vetternwirtschaft und Selbstbedienung- oder ist genau das die Bürgererziehung?

Überhaupt: VerAntwortung. Da steckt die Antwort drin. Verantworten war ursprünglich ein juristischer Begriff, der die Pflicht bezeichnete Rechenschaft abzulegen.

2026 wird und ist ein Jahr der massiven Umbrüche, nicht nur für Deutschland, das ist jetzt schon klar. 

Jeder Gedanke zählt … und verändert unsere Welt. Die Offenheit für neue Ideen und freies Agieren ist nicht gerade das was wir uns hier in Deutschland auf die Fahne geschrieben hatten. Es wird Zeit, daß wir uns als Bürger das zugestehen und genau das zulassen.

Response and answer

The world is burning, and we’re acting like everything’s normal.

In addition to moving out of my studio until July 1st, 2026, I’m currently running a two-hour weekly street art workshop at the Goethe School in Neu-Isenburg and a graffiti art workshop in Frankfurt-Ginnheim.

On top of that, I have a mountain of paperwork to fill out, and I’m increasingly baffled as to how other self-employed individuals who want to make a difference here manage.

Apparently, it’s impossible, and the authorities seem to know it. It’s no coincidence that I, as a supposedly „free“ citizen, am under general suspicion, while I read about economic issues in the media that make me even more doubtful that things here aren’t citizen-friendly or in the public interest, but rather often quite clearly about cronyism, fraud, nepotism, and self-enrichment.

In short: accountability. That’s the answer. Responsibility was originally a legal term, referring to the duty to give an response!

2026 will be, and is, a year of massive upheaval, not just for Germany—that much is already clear.

Every thought counts… and changes our world. Openness to new ideas and free action isn’t exactly what we in Germany have championed. It’s time we, as citizens, grant ourselves this and allow it to happen.

Über einen an meinem am Rückspiegel hängenden Talisman kommentierte er amüsiert »Tittle tattle …«

Nicht nur sein Song »Planet Rock«, daß ja ein Remake des großartigen Kraftwerk-Songs Metall auf Metall darstellt war und ist Teil meiner alltime Favourite Playlist, auch Songs aus dem Hollywood Blockbuster über die Hip Hop-Kultur Beat Street, der unsere Jugend weltweit nachhaltig prägte, gehören dazu.

Ich verabschiede mich von einem großartigen Musiker, Künstler und Mensch, der später mit enormen Vorwürfen zu leben hatte. Was daran wahr war, kann ich nicht wissen. Ich habe ihn als netten, weisen Menschen kennenlernen dürfen, der humanistisch und ideologiefrei agierte.

Afrika Bambaataa R.I.P.

This news today deeply touches me. Afrika Bambaataa, a pioneer of global hip-hop culture, has passed away. Bambaataa has been a musical and spiritual influence on me since my youth. In 1993, I had the privilege of meeting him personally after a performance at the Music Hall in Frankfurt. He was performing there with G.L.O.B.E. from Soulsonic Force, opening for Shabba Ranks. DJ Cutmaster GB and I were members of Zulu Nation, a hip-hop organization, at the time, and we went out for Thai food with him near the Eschersheimer Turm. Afterward, we drove him in my light blue 1965 VW Beetle to the Queens Hotel (a name that speaks for itself) just outside Neu-Isenburg. Under the considerable weight of Bambaataa, who was sitting in my passenger seat, the Beetle noticeably tilted to the right.

During the concert, DJ Cutmaster GB and I were members of Zulu Nation, a hip-hop organization, and we had a Thai meal with him near the Eschersheimer Turm. He commented, amused, on a talisman hanging from my rearview mirror: „Tittle tattle…“

Not only his song »Planet Rock«, a remake of the magnificent Kraftwerk song »Metall auf Metall«, was and remains part of my all-time favorite playlist, but also songs from the Hollywood blockbuster about hip-hop culture, Beat Street, which profoundly influenced our youth worldwide.

I bid farewell to a great musician, artist, and human being who later had to live with enormous accusations. I cannot know how true they were. I had the privilege of knowing him as a kind, wise man who acted humanistically and without ideological bias.
