Jetzt wo es allenthalben Ausstellungen zum Thema Hip Hop und deren Auswirkungen auf unseren Alltag hat, wo auf einmal das museal und schützenswert erscheint, was für viele von uns Jugend und Lebensinhalt bedeutet(e) kommen auch immer mehr Printprodukte dazu heraus, z.B. Bücher. Ich freue mich über die Würdigung meines Textes und meines frühen Artworks unter vielen alten Weggefährten im neuen Buch »Wall Street Meeting – Destroy and Rebuild (ISBN 978-3-00-074650-5)« von Manuel Gerullis zu finden.

Nicht nur zufällig könnte der Buchtitel auch für ein klassisches Architekturwerk herhalten, stellt doch wildes Graffiti tatsächlich rein rechtlich den Tatbestand der Sachbeschädigung dar, obwohl die Sache an sich gar nicht ihres wirklichen Nutzens beraubt wird. Was man von architektonischer Herangehensweise oftmals nicht wirklich behaupten kann. Manuel, der Initiator dieses vermutlich wichtigsten Street Art-/Graffiti Art-Festivals (seit 1997) und DBL-Crewbuddy plant das Europäische Hip Hop Museum in Wiesbaden.

Culture that wasn’t allowed to exist for a long time …

Now that there are exhibitions everywhere on the subject of hip hop and its effects on our everyday lives, where what suddenly appears to be a museum and worth protecting, which means youth and the meaning of life for many of us, more and more are coming Print products, e.g. books. I am pleased that my text and my early artwork have been recognized among many old companions in the new book »Wall Street Meeting – Destroy and Rebuild (ISBN 978-3-00-0746505)« by Manuel Gerullis.

It is not just a coincidence that the title of the book could also be used for a classic work of architecture, as wild graffiti actually legally constitutes the offense of damage to property, even though the thing itself is not deprived of its real use. Something that can often not really be said about an architectural approach.

Manuel, the initiator of what is probably the most important street art/graffiti art festival (since 1997) and DBL crew buddy, is planning the European Hip Hop Museum in Wiesbaden.

Laut Desmond Tutu ist eh alles geschenkt. Wir haben nichts dafür getan und dürfen trotzdem hier sein. Dafür und für alles andere sollten wir dankbar sein. Man sollte sich nur dran erinnern können, inmitten des Wahnsinns.

Seit Graffiti ebenfalls in den so genannten Verwertungskreislauf eingedrungen ist, verliert es natürlich etwas an seiner ursprünglichen Kraft. Anscheinend ist ja oft unsere einzige Antwort auf ohnmächtige Situationen, der Konsum. Es gibt aber noch andere Wege als den Tauschzwang, z.B. Protest, Hilfe und aktives Gestalten/Schenken.

Wie schon in unseren wilden Jahren mit so genannten illegalen Werken haben alle beteiligten Artists (unter anderem meine alten Buddies Darko, Scotty 76 und Eike König) ihre Zeit und ihr Artwork geschenkt und gespendet.

Unter der Schirmherrschaft von Jan Delay und von der Personalberatung five14 initiierte und veranstaltete Aktion NICE, die künstlerisch gestaltete Sneaker (Adidas Superstars) von insgesamt 60 Artists pro bono erstellen ließ, startet jetzt die Auktion auch des von mir gestalteten Sneakers.

Der Erlös der A(u)ktion fließt in das kostenlose Kursangebot des Esche Jugendkunsthaus in Hamburg-Altona. Das Esche Jugendkunsthaus bietet seit 2016 für Jugendliche kostenlose Kreativkurse – von Breakdance und Graffiti über Gesang und Rap bis hin zu Theater, Zeichenkursen und mehr an. In den Workshops können Kinder und Jugendliche ohne Erwartungsdruck und Notenstress ihre künstlerischen Fähigkeiten entdecken. Rund 200 Jugendliche besuchen jede Woche die Angebote der Esche.

Everything is free, according to Desmond Tutu. We didn’t do anything about it and we’re still allowed to be here. For that and for everything else we should be thankful. It should only be remembered in the midst of the madness.

Since graffiti has also entered the so-called recycling cycle, it has of course lost some of its original power. Apparently our only response to powerless situations is consumption. But there are other ways than the compulsion to exchange, e.g. protest, help and active design/giving.

As in our wild years with so-called illegal works, all participating artists (including my old buddies Darko, Scotty 76 and Eike König) donated their time and artwork. Under the patronage of Jan Delay and the HR consultancy five14, the NICE campaign, which had artistically designed sneakers (Adidas Superstars) created pro bono by a total of 60 artists, is now starting the auction of the sneakers I designed.

The proceeds of the a(u)ction flow into the free courses offered by the Esche Jugendkunsthaus in Hamburg-Altona. The Esche youth-arthouse has been offering free creative courses for young people since 2016 – from breakdance and graffiti to singing and rap to theatre, drawing courses and more. In the workshops, children and young people can discover their artistic abilities without the pressure of expectations or the stress of grades. Around 200 young people visit Esche every week.

Folge dem weißen Fellkragen …

Immer tiefer geht es in den Kaninchenbau und das weiße Karnickel rennt um sein digitales Leben: Insta und andere sogenannte Netzwerke lenken herrlich ab von der vermeintlich trüben Corona-Rezessions-Realität. Ferngesteuert in die kleinen Smartphone starrend rennen viele von uns durch die Welt ohne ihr tatsächliches Dasein an ihrem jeweiligen Ort und zu dieser Zeit wahrzunehmen. Stellt man sich einmal der Welt von Likes, thumbs ups und so genannten Influencern, erkennt man die Lächerlichkeit und die Nachteile eines vermeintlichen Wettbewerbs. Viel Schein, viel Werbung und viel Rauch um Nichts. Keinerlei Bestand, da ob der Fülle der Möglichkeiten in einem angeblich ungesteuerten leeren Raum so viel entdeckt und auch gemacht werden kann, daß man sich darin verliert.  Denn das Verkaufsversprechen eines Portals ist ja eben genau die Möglichkeit einer wie auch immer gearteten Präsentation. Kids machen es vor, die Alten rennen hinterher (und kleiden sich dann auch) wie Kids: Slimfit bei älteren sieht einfach hohl und peinlich aus. Fellkragenjacken und SUVs sind jetzt ja schon in den letzten Winkeln der Republik angekommen. Zeit das Ruder herumzureißen und neue Stilistiken anzupreisen.

Egal, auch mein frühes (und auch ein Teil) meines temporäres Artworks bekommt einen Platz im digitalen Bewertungstrash, allerdings denn auf dem interessanten Walls dont lie Podcast von Kid Crow und KGEE. Der Podcast beleuchtet eben nicht nur Street Artists, sondern präsentiert auch und gerade Styler/Stylewriter, Graffiti-Artists, Bboys, Hip Hip und wildes Artwork aus Deutschland. So gibt es ein hörenwertes Interview mit meinem sehr herzlichen Freund Amigo (Flying Steps) aus Berlin, der nebenbei bemerkt auch ein fantastischer Kalligraph ist und meinem hervorragendem GBF Crewmember –  und SUK/Stick Up Kidz Crewkollegen dem Typo-Grafen Tasek aus Hamburg (vorher Braunschweig) und ebenso meinem alten Bekannten Stylemaster Shaw aus Berlin. Btw. wers noch nicht weiß, 2000 buchte und vermittelte ich die Flying Steps für eine Präsentation auf der ISPO an Sony PlayStation, die daraufhin nahezu jährlich erst auf der Games Convention in Leipzig, dann auf der Gamescom in Köln aktiv waren.

Ab Montag, 07.12.2020 wird dann dort auch ein ausführlicheres Interview mit deinem Lieblings-Oldschool-Homie (O-Ton Klark Kent-obwohl er selbst gerade mal ein Jahr später anfing zu malen) a.k.a. meiner Wenigkeit zu finden sein.

Im Zuge des Prozesses habe ich dann Kid Crow auch in die GBF-(Gummibächenfront) Crew aufgenommen, eine altehrwürdige Crew, deren Mitglieder international verteilt sind, aber ihren Schwerpunkt im deutschsprachigen Raum haben.

Das ist mal Kulturpolitik der ganz anderen Art. Btw. wo ist denn der öffentliche Raum im Internet ?

It’s getting deeper and deeper into the rabbit hole and the white rabbit is running for its digital life: Insta and other so-called networks divert attention away from the supposedly gloomy Corona recession reality. Staring remotely into our small smartphones, many of us run through the world without realizing their actual existence in their respective place and time. If you face the world of likes, thumbs ups and so-called influencers, you can see the ridiculousness and disadvantages of an alleged competition. Lots of appearances, lots of advertising and a lot of smoke about nothing. Absolutely no endurance, since whether the abundance of possibilities in an allegedly uncontrolled empty space can be discovered and also done so much that one gets lost in it. Because the sales promise of a portal is precisely the possibility of a presentation of whatever kind.

Kids show how it is done, the old ones run after them (and then dress like kids too): Slimfit with older people just looks hollow and embarrassing. Fur collar jackets and SUVs have already arrived in the last corners of the republic. Time to turn things around and advertise new styles.

Regardless, my early (and also part of) my temporary artwork gets a place in the digital rating rush, but on the interesting Walls dont lie podcast by Kid Crow and KGEE. The podcast not only illuminates street artists, but also presents stylers / stylewriters, Graffiti-Artists, bboys, hip hip and wild artwork from Germany. So there is an interview with my very warm friend Amigo (Flying Steps) from Berlin, who is also a fantastic calligrapher, and my outstanding GBF crew member – the typo count Tasek from Hamburg (previously Braunschweig) and my old friend Stylemaster Shaw from Berlin. Btw. If you don’t know yet, in 2000 I booked and arranged the Flying Steps for a presentation at the ISPO to Sony PlayStation, which was then active almost every year, first at the Games Convention in Leipzig, then at Gamescom in Cologne.

From Monday, December 7th, 2020 there will also be a more detailed interview with yours truly.

In the course of the process, I then accepted Kid Crow into the GBF (gummy bear front) crew, a venerable crew whose members are spread internationally, but whose focus is on German-speaking countries.

This is a very different kind of cultural policy. Btw. where is the public space on the internet?
