Vor ziemlich genau 30 Jahren, im Jahr 1994, sprühte ich eine legendäre Fassadengestaltung »Fernweh ist heilbar …«, eine Mural für das Reisebüro Christe in der Innenstadt von Hanau. Damals kam ein kleiner Steppke dazu der mich motivierte und mit seinem Graffiti-tag am Schluss überraschte. Der Kleine ist heute ein Personaltrainer (u.a. für Nike) heisst Tim Gondorf / Peak personal training und wir hatten über die Jahrzehnte immer wieder Kontakt, zuerst über den so genannten Camel-Circle und später sprühte ich oft in die Baby- und Kinderzimmer seiner Kids kindgerechtes Artwork direkt auf die Innenwände.

Ja, und jetzt fragte er mich  ob ich ihn nicht kommunikativ unterstützen könne. »Klar, mache ich doch gerne …« und so entstand das Corporate Design als Online-und Print-Artwork für 496 Run4Kids. Die Idee hinter Run$Kids st so einfach, wie genial:

496 km … das sind die Gesamtkilometer, die ein Läufer oder eine Läuferin über einen Monat, in dem Fall im Dezember 2024 absolviert, wenn er/sie täglich die Datumsziffer als Distanz in Kilometern laufen. Das Ganze wird dann als Geldsumme an den Verein Hilfe für Krebskranke Kinder in Frankfurt gespendet. Wer mehr Infos möchte und/oder sich beteiligen möchte, hier der Link:

Run4Kids

Almost exactly 30 years ago, in 1994, I sprayed a legendary facade design »Wanderlust is curable«, a mural for the Christe travel agency in downtown Hanau. At that time a little fellow came along who motivated me and surprised me with his graffiti tag at the end. The little one is now a personal trainer (for Nike, among others) and his name is Tim Gondorf / Peak personal training and we have been in contact again and again over the decades, first through the so-called Camel Circle and later I often sprayed child-friendly things into his kids‘ rooms Artwork directly onto the interior walls.

Yes, and now he asked me whether I could support him communicatively. “Sure, I like to do that…” and so the corporate design was created as online and print artwork for 496 Run4Kids. The idea behind Run$Kids is as simple as it is ingenious:

496 km … these are the total kilometers that a runner completes over a month, in this case in December 2024, if he/she runs the date number as a distance in kilometers every day. The whole thing will then be donated as a sum of money to the Help for Children with Cancer association in Frankfurt. Internationaler Kunst Wettbewerb gewonnen

Grundsätzlich stehe ich ja unhonorierten Ausschreibungen und Wettbewerbungen skeptisch gegenüber. Jetzt hatte ich an einem aber doch teilgenommen und schwupps gehöre ich zu den ausgezeichneten.

Das European Circular Online Museum hatte eine Ausschreibung zum Thema Upcycling veröffentlicht und ich reichte meine Installation »30 Minutes of fame für jeden« aus meinem alten Atelier in der Phrix Künstlergemeinschaft bei der Route der Industriekultur Rhein-Main aus dem Jahr 2012 ein.

Dort schuf ich aus im Sperrmüll gefundenen Objekten eine Skulptur, die totemähnlich vor den von mir erstellten Kunstwerken auf Keilrahmen-Leinwand thronte.

Won international art contest

Basically, I am skeptical about unpaid tenders and competitions. But now I’ve taken part in one and hey presto, I’m one of the distinguished ones.

The European Circular Online Museum had published a call for proposals on the subject of upcycling and I submitted my installation “30 Minutes of fame for everyone” from my old studio in the Phrix artist community to the Route of Industrial Culture Rhine Main in 2012.

There I created a sculpture from objects found in the bulky waste, which sat like a totem in front of the works of art I had created on stretcher canvas.

Die Befreiung des Alphabets

Und schon wieder ein Buch … Nein, diesmal kein Ratrace Produkt a.k.a. »jeder der mal eine Dose geschwungen bzw. einmal Styles realisiert hat veröffentlicht jetzt ein Buch« (da die Deutungshoheit so enorm wichtig wird), sondern eine lange überfällige Neuauflage des »Theorie des Style/Theory of Style« von 1996 von CHEECH H, SCUM aka CEMNOZ und TECHNO 169 aka STONE aka DON Karl. Grafische Gesamtkonzeption damals noch von Mirko Borsche, damals noch eher unter seinem Stylewriting-Graffiti-Street Art Pseudonym SMAL aus München bekannt. Meine Wenigkeit hatte damals auch eine Stylevariation von 1991 (gleich auf Seite 4 und 5) beitragen dürfen.

And yet another book… No, this time not a Ratrace product a.k.a. »everyone who has ever wielded a can or ever realized styles is now publishing a book« (since the sovereignty of interpretation is becoming so enormously important), but a long overdue new edition of the »Theory of Style« from 1996 by CHEECH H, SCUM aka CEMNOZ and TECHNO 169 aka STONE aka DON Karl. The overall graphic concept at the time was by Mirko Borsche, who was then better known under his style writing graffiti street art pseudonym SMAL from Munich. My humble self was also allowed to contribute a style variation from 1991 (on pages 4 and 5).

As I always say? Alphabet is writing in a straitjacket…

wer, wie ich von einem selbsterschaffenen Berufszweig lebt (Street Artist/Graffitikünstler seit 1988), wird oft ignoriert bzw. diskrediert (wenn auch unterschwellig), da er in keine Schublade passt. Zu sehr sind wir im Land der vermeintlich Eifrigen in festgefahrenen Strukturen, daß wir es nicht erkennen wollen, wenn jemand etwas zu Wertigkeit verhelfen möchte, das offiziell keinerlei Wert besitzen darf.

Im Gegenteil, Graffiti respektive Stylewriting wird oftmals als unwertig, Schmiererei und Sachbeschädigung tituliert und unsinniger Tant aus Asien wird als der heisse Scheiss gefeiert. Tatsächlich vollziehe ich das was ich gerne tue, koninuierlich seit Ende der 80er Jahren des letzten Jahrtausends. Zwar mit wachsendem Erfolg, allerdings ist das Einkommen kaum vergleichbar mit einem so genannten seriös erlernten Beruf, der staatlich anerkannt wird.

Woran liegt das?

Einerseits daran, daß es sich nicht vorgestellt werden kann, daß in dem Land noch selbst etwas produziert wird, was nicht auto- oder immobilär sein könnte. Andererseits eventuell auch an einem Verwaltungsapperat, der Offenheit und Fairness propagiert, aber stattdessen alles andere als das ist. Wer hier nach realistischen Steuervorgaben agieren will, bekommt massiv die Hosen ausgezogen.

Und zweitens, staatlich bzw. gemeinschaftliche (oder nennen wir es soziale) Anerkennung. Was bedeutet das? Bildungssysteme, die einer behördlich geordneten Infra- und Beurteilungsstruktur unterliegen werden höher bewertet und sprechen wir es offen aus, auch höher bezahlt, als sich selbst geschaffene Strukturen, Organisationen und Hierarchien (die ich persönlich nicht unbedingt gut oder besser finden muss) …

Erstaunlicherweise hängt genau davon sehr viel ab: Die so genannte 1 % Neuwagenregelung z. B. hat die Fahrzeugpreise ins Exorbitante steigen lassen. Deutschland hat laut einschlägigen Medien die meisten Steuerregelungen europaweit, mehr als ALLE europäischen Länder zusammengenommen.

Und wer hat Schuld? Schuld ist ja ein blödes Wort, da dahinter oftmals eine Absicht versmutet wird. Klar, alles hat eine Ursache, aber hier ist es vermutlich die Idee, alles gerechter machen zu wollen, was per se in sich schon nicht gerecht ist: Verteilung.

Verteilungskämpfe sind Teil unseres Daseins und meiner Meinung nach könnte hier die Pädagogik etwas mehr zweckgebunden agieren. Zu sehr wird Geld und Einfluß in die Kanalisierung gesteckt um Menschen funktionieren zu lassen, statt ihnen ein individuelles und möglicherweise selbsterschaffens Erwirtschaften zu ermöglichen. Zu sehr scheint die Angst vor Arbeitslosigkeit – und damit zusammenhängend – sozialen Spannungen diejenigen zu beherrschen, die sich Leitung nennen. Aber: Not (oder Mangel) bzw. macht auch erfinderisch (oder nennen wir es kreativ) und schafft Innovationen. Hier passiert aber Folgendes, statt dem Innern folgt man dem Äußeren: Sozial- und Kunstpädagogen weisen möglichen Schwerenötern (ein herrliches Wort) den Weg zurück in die angepasste Schafherde. Und wie sie dann glücklich eine Maske tragen und heimlich ihre Heuchlerei verfluchen, denn der Trick der Verwaltungsapperatur ist natürlich geglückt: Jeder erwirtschaftet sein Häuschen und niemand wurde schließlich gezwungen Eigentum zu erwerben, eine Familie zu gründen und um die man sich dann den Rest des Daseins kümmern darf …

Erstaunlicher um so mehr, daß ich für viele Konzerne und Unternehmen arbeiten durfte, teilweise gibt es nicht mehr, wurden übernommen oder gingen pleite. Pleite auch deswegen, weil es sich kaum noch lohnt, Gewinne in einem Land zu erzielen, daß steuerlich so unverschämt zugreift wie es Deutschland nun einmal tut.

Warum dann eigentlich diese Beitragsheadline? Ganz einfach: Wenn man sich überlegt, wofür viele von uns dann tagtäglich ihre Zeit opfern, kommen sicher die meisten auf die Materialverwaltung. Täglich transportiert man etwas, besorgt Material teils um sich selbst zu erhalten, teils um Energie zu bekommen, aber größtenteils heutzutage um sich damit selbst zu erhöhen, zu profilieren. So sehr ist das Profitieren, aber auch das Profilieren in uns aufgegangen, daß wir nicht mehr sehen, worum es vielleicht in unserem Dasein gehen könnte …

In der Mitte der 2000er sicherte ich mir einige Domains, unter anderem Lesezwang.de und Tauschzwang.de. Letzteres ist ein schöner Begriff, der ziemlich genau das beschreibt, was uns alle verbindet, wenn wir nicht damit beschäftigt sind, uns die Schädel einzuschlagen.

Tatsächlich erleben wir ja schon länger die Ökonomisierung von allem bzw. die hoffnungslose Suche nach Werten. Dabei bleiben auch die so genannten Subkulturen nicht verschont. Heutzutage soll sich das Individuum in der letztendlichen Verkaufsstrategie verlieren. Wenn Du nichts zu bieten hast, dann bietest Du entweder Deine Integrität bzw. Deine Kredibilität/Glaubwürdigkeit an, wirst Influencer und vermarktest Deine Haut in so genannten sozialen Netzwerken. Aber ist denn nicht das gesamte Internet schon ein soziales Netzwerk?

Etwas mehr Ehrlichkeit uns selbst gegenüber sollte nicht schaden …

I am not the material that surrounds me …

Anyone who, like me, makes a living from a self-created profession (street artist/graffiti artist since 1988) is often ignored or discreet (albeit subtly) because they don’t fit into any box. In the land of the supposedly zealous, we are too stuck in rigid structures that we don’t want to recognize when someone wants to add value to something that is officially not allowed to have any value. On the contrary, graffiti or style writing is often labeled as unworthy, graffiti and damage to property and nonsensical aunts from Asia are celebrated as hot shit.

In fact, I have been doing what I like to do continuously since the end of the 80s of the last millennium. Although with increasing success, the income is hardly comparable to a so-called seriously trained profession that is recognized by the state. Why is that? On the one hand, because it is impossible to imagine that the country would still produce anything that could not be automobile or immobile. On the other hand, it may also be due to an administrative apparatus that promotes openness and fairness, but is instead anything but. Anyone who wants to act according to realistic tax requirements will have their pants pulled off massively. And secondly, state or community (or let’s call it social) recognition. What does that mean? Educational systems that are subject to an officially ordered infrastructure and assessment structure are valued more highly and, let’s say it openly, are also paid more highly than self-created structures, organizations and hierarchies (which I personally don’t necessarily think are good or better) … Surprisingly, a lot depends on this: the so-called 1% new car regulation, e.g. B. has caused vehicle prices to rise exorbitantly. According to relevant media, Germany has the most tax regulations in Europe, more than ALL European countries combined.

And who is to blame? Guilt is a stupid word because it often assumes an intention behind it. Sure, everything has a cause, but here it is probably the idea of ​​wanting to make everything fairer, which in itself is not fair: distribution. Struggles over distribution are part of our existence and, in my opinion, pedagogy can act a little more purposefully here. Too much money and influence is put into channeling to make people function instead of enabling them to generate individual and possibly self-generated income.

The fear of unemployment (and related social tensions) seems to dominate those who call themselves leaders too much. But: Necessity (or lack) also makes you inventive (or let’s call it creative) and creates innovations. But here’s what happens: instead of following the inside, you follow the outside: social and art educators show possible philanderers (a wonderful word) the way back into the adapted sheep herd. And how they then happily wear a mask and secretly curse their hypocrisy, because the trick of the administrative apparatus has of course worked: everyone earns a living and no one was ultimately forced to acquire property, found a family and then worry about them for the rest of their existence can take care… It’s even more astonishing that I was able to work for many corporations and companies, some of which no longer exist, were taken over or went bankrupt. Bankrupt also because it is hardly worth making profits in a country that has such an outrageous tax policy as Germany does. Then why this post headline? Quite simply: If you think about what many of us sacrifice our time for every day, most of us will probably come up with material management. Every day you transport something, get materials partly to sustain yourself, partly to get energy, but mostly nowadays to improve yourself and to make your profile.

Profiting, but also profiling, has become so absorbed in us that we no longer see what our existence could possibly be about…

Milestones of Hip Hop und Brudi Podcast

Hip Hop und wir: Wir sind endlich museumsreif, ebenso Hip Hop: Nach sehr erfolgreicher opening der THE CULTURE Hip-Hop Ausstellung mit Torch in der Schirn, die zu einem Positive Vibes Konzert mit Tanz und unfassbar schöner Stimmung der ganzen Hip Hops, der Neugierigen und Normalos inkl. extrem hohen Ladyaufkommens wurde, kam ich selbst etwas später nach, da ich um 18.00 Uhr noch ein Interview für den Brudi Pocast gab. Mit Torch und Double D saß ich bis morgens um 4.00 noch in der Hotellobby und diskutierte. Herrlich. Am nächsten Tag wurde es ebenfalls sehr angenehm, denn um 14.00 Uhr war die Opening der Ausstellung für den Frankfurt-Part (für den ich eine sehr kleine beratende Funktion übernahm) im MOMEM und den Samstag ab 20.00 Uhr das Bionic Force (inkl. DJ Cutmaster GB)-Konzert, das ebenfalls zum Familytreffen inkl. DJ BackQ, DJ Funkmaster Ozone, DJ Double D, DJ Feedback, DJ Release, Taner Ali, DJ Yesta und vielen Writern im MOMEM wurde.

What is classic entrepreneurship? Company comes from companionship
. I’ve always done… Here’s the current Brudi podcast about hip hop jams and Frankfurt’s graffiti history – in keeping with the current exhibition in the Schirn and Momem.

Hip Hop and us: We are finally museum-ready, and so is Hip Hop: After the very successful opening of THE CULTURE Hip-Hop exhibition with Torch in the Schirn, which led to a Positive Vibes concert with dancing and an incredibly beautiful atmosphere from all the Hip Hop people, the curious and Normal people including an extremely high number of ladies came, I came a little later myself because I gave an interview for the Brudi Pocast at 6 p.m. (I sat in the hotel lobby with Torch and Double D until 4 a.m. and discussed. Great.).

The next day was also very pleasant because at 2 p.m. there was the opening of the exhibition for the Frankfurt part (for which I took on a very small advisory role) of this exhibition in the MOMEM and on Saturday from 8 p.m. the Bionic Force (including DJ Cutmaster GB) concert, which also became a family meeting including DJ BackQ, DJ Funkmaster Ozone, DJ Double D, DJ Feedback, DJ Release, Taner Ali, DJ Yesta and many writers in MOMEM.

Lichtkunst live … 30 Jahre Stadtmuseum Hofheim
 

Projizierte Lightpaintings und Lichtgraffiti im öffentlichen Raum zusammen mit dem Publikum bei jeder Aufführung improvisiert und spontan neu gestaltet.

Nach mehreren Luminale Teilnahmen in Frankfurt und Offenbach, Winter Lights London und diversen Buchungen im In- und Ausland, wie dem Primavera Festival für Seat in Barcelona, Waiblingen, Solothurn und Basel ist es mir eine wahre Freude einen Termin für eine öffentliche Veranstaltung bekannt zu geben. Zum Jubiläum 30 Jahre Stadtmuseum Hofheim am Samstag, den 25.11.2023 werden Marcel Panne von Lichtfaktor und ich auf dem Ludwig-Meidner-Platz in Hofheim am Taunus Lichtkunst inkl. Sound vorführen.

Zuschauer dürfen nicht nur konsumieren sondern selbst auch ausprobieren.

Hier ein kurzer Funktionstext, sozusagen FAQs des Lichtmalens: Wir laden dich ein mit Licht auf die Fassade des Stadtmuseums Hofheim zu malen. Dafür haben wir unterschiedliche Lichtquellen vorbereitet, am besten machst du dich kurz mit den Lichtquellen vertraut und schaust wo die An/Aus Taste sind. Wenn du die Taste nur leicht drückst geht das Licht aus sobald du wieder los lässt, so lässt sich am besten damit malen. Wenn du die Taste durchdrückst bis ein „klick“-Geräusch zu hören ist, bleibt sie an bis du die Taste erneut drückst. Wichtig ist, dass du die Lampen nicht auf die Fassade richtest, sonder von ihr weg in den Raum, sobald du sie verdeckst und die Kamera dein Licht nicht sieht, funktioniert es nicht. Wir empfehlen seitlich zu malen, so verdeckst du das Licht nicht mit deinem Körper. Denk daran die Lampen auszumachen oder mit deiner Hand zu verdecken wenn du nicht malen willst, es ist nicht möglich etwas zu löschen. Heller als Weiss wird es nicht, lass uns wissen wenn du ein neues Bild starten willst und vergiss nicht ein Foto von deinem Meisterwerk zu machen bevor wir mit einem neuen Bild zu Beginnen. Wenn dir was nicht klarsein sollte, sprich uns einfach an, wir helfen dir gerne weiter. Hier noch ein kleiner Tipp: du kannst sehr präzise an der Wand malen aber dich auch frei im Raum mit der Lichtquelle bewegen, das bringt deiner Zeichnung mehr Perspektive und Dynamik. Viel Spass beim Lichtmalen.

Start ist ab Einbruch der Dunkelheit, ab ca. 19:30 Uhr.

Es gibt ja online mittlerweile so viel Content für den die Beschreibung »heisse Luft« noch als Lob zu bezeichnen wäre. Hier mal eventuell vielleicht etwas mit Hirn und Sinn:

Am Freitag, 04.08.2023 durfte ich als einziger Graffiti Artist/Street Artist ab 8:00 Uhr an einer Hub- und Arbeitsbühnenschulung und -führerscheinprüfung bei Schmidt Arbeistsbühnenverleih in Neu Isenburg teilnehmen. Hintergrund ist, daß ich für Schott Light- und Imaging in Mainz ein künstlerische Indoorfassadengestaltung bis auf ca. 8 m Höhe realisieren darf und auf dem Betriebsgelände niemand so einen Steiger ohne diesen Führerschein fahren darf. Nicht daß ich keinerlei Erfahrung im Steuern der Geräte hätte – im Gegenteil. In über 35 Jahren internationaler Erfahrung im Gestalten mit der Farbsprühdose auf Fassaden und Wände fuhr schon sehr viele unterschiedliche Maschinen, zuletzt für einen 30 x 6 m Job auf Malta. Teils unfassbar alte Möhren, teils hochmoderne Teleskopausleger und Cherrypicker, die ich, im Nachhinein festgestellt, auf abenteuerliche Weise bedienen durfte. Mein Vorurteil wurde teils bestätigt, teils widerlegt.

Bestätigung: In Deutschland wird aus jedem Klimbim eine Prüfung, eine Vorschrift oder ein Ausbildungsberuf ;-). Widerlegung: Im Kurs erfuhr ich tatsächlich eine Menge, die ich so nicht erwartete. Prüfer Norbert Langer erklärte kompetent was für Gefahren bestehen, warum Wind gefährlich sein kann, warum man sich festgurten sollte und was ein Notfallplan ist. An Beispielen zeigte, wie entscheident der Untergrund ist auf dem so ein Steiger stehen sollte und wo an dem Gerät die Hauptinformationen über Traglast und weitere wichtige Informationen stehen.

Ich kann also die so genannte IPAF Prüfung nur empfehlen.
Danke an Norbert Langer bei Schmidt Hub- und Arbeitsbühnenverleih in Neu-Isenburg. Das Unternehmen verleiht seit 1969 Hub- und Arbeitsbühnen und hat einen riesigen Fuhrpark, deren Teleskopausleger bis auf 72 m (!!!!) reichen.

Passend zur laufenden Frauenfußball-WM habe ich einen Aufkleber gestaltet. Hintergrund ist ein Motiv, daß ich bei einem Plakatwettbewerb der FIFA 2010 einreichte, ohne je eine Reaktion zu erfahren. Der Aufkleber hat die Größe 9 x 9 cm, rund, Weißer Background, Text: »women get up faster after a foul …« (Frauen stehen wieder schneller nach einem Foul auf …). Grund dafür war für mich, da ein Kumpel beim Schauen einen Frauenfußballspiels festellte, daß es im Gegensatz zu männlichen Fußball dort kein minutenlanges Herumwälzen und Pseudojammern gibt. Vermutlich nervt nicht nur uns das ständige Theater der männlichen Fußballerriege, die extra Falltraining machen, damit sie noch spektakulärere Fouls inszenieren können.

For me, the reason for this was that a friend of mine, while watching a women’s soccer game,
noticed that, in contrast to male soccer, there was no tossing and turning and pseudo-wailing for minutes.
We’re probably not the only ones who are annoyed by the constant drama of the male soccer team,
who do extra fall training so that they can stage even more spectacular fouls.

Lichtkunst live und für jede(n) …

Bombers neueste Live-Produktion: Aufgeführt, projiziert und im öffentlichen Raum zusammen mit dem Publikum bei jeder Aufführung neu gestaltet: Nach Okriftel, Frankfurt, Offenbach, Barcelona, London, Waiblingen, Solothurn und Basel ist es mir eine wahre Freude einen Termin für eine erneute öffentliche Veranstaltung bekannt zu geben. Am Mittwoch, den 28.09.2022 werden wir (Marcel Panne von Lichtfaktor und meine Wenigkeit) am Lesegarten der neuen Stadtbibliothek der Stadt Hofheim am Kellereiplatz eine Lichtperformance mit Lichtkunst inkl. Sound vorführen. Und das Beste, jede(r) darf selbst teilnehmen.

Hintergrund ist die schon mehrfach verschobene Eröffnung der neuen Stadtbibliothek.

Start ist ab Einbruch der Dunkelheit, ca. ab 19:30 Uhr. Offizielles Ende ist ab 23:00 Uhr. Wir werden aber bestimmt noch weiterzeichnen und Lightpaintings und Lichtgraffiti entwerfen.

Laut Desmond Tutu ist eh alles geschenkt. Wir haben nichts dafür getan und dürfen trotzdem hier sein. Dafür und für alles andere sollten wir dankbar sein. Man sollte sich nur dran erinnern können, inmitten des Wahnsinns.

Seit Graffiti ebenfalls in den so genannten Verwertungskreislauf eingedrungen ist, verliert es natürlich etwas an seiner ursprünglichen Kraft. Anscheinend ist ja oft unsere einzige Antwort auf ohnmächtige Situationen, der Konsum. Es gibt aber noch andere Wege als den Tauschzwang, z.B. Protest, Hilfe und aktives Gestalten/Schenken.

Wie schon in unseren wilden Jahren mit so genannten illegalen Werken haben alle beteiligten Artists (unter anderem meine alten Buddies Darko, Scotty 76 und Eike König) ihre Zeit und ihr Artwork geschenkt und gespendet.

Unter der Schirmherrschaft von Jan Delay und von der Personalberatung five14 initiierte und veranstaltete Aktion NICE, die künstlerisch gestaltete Sneaker (Adidas Superstars) von insgesamt 60 Artists pro bono erstellen ließ, startet jetzt die Auktion auch des von mir gestalteten Sneakers.

Der Erlös der A(u)ktion fließt in das kostenlose Kursangebot des Esche Jugendkunsthaus in Hamburg-Altona. Das Esche Jugendkunsthaus bietet seit 2016 für Jugendliche kostenlose Kreativkurse – von Breakdance und Graffiti über Gesang und Rap bis hin zu Theater, Zeichenkursen und mehr an. In den Workshops können Kinder und Jugendliche ohne Erwartungsdruck und Notenstress ihre künstlerischen Fähigkeiten entdecken. Rund 200 Jugendliche besuchen jede Woche die Angebote der Esche.

Everything is free, according to Desmond Tutu. We didn’t do anything about it and we’re still allowed to be here. For that and for everything else we should be thankful. It should only be remembered in the midst of the madness.

Since graffiti has also entered the so-called recycling cycle, it has of course lost some of its original power. Apparently our only response to powerless situations is consumption. But there are other ways than the compulsion to exchange, e.g. protest, help and active design/giving.

The proceeds of the a(u)ction flow into the free courses offered by the Esche Jugendkunsthaus in Hamburg-Altona. The Esche youth-arthouse has been offering free creative courses for young people since 2016 – from breakdance and graffiti to singing and rap to theatre, drawing courses and more. In the workshops, children and young people can discover their artistic abilities without the pressure of expectations or the stress of grades. Around 200 young people visit Esche every week.
